IN THIS POST: — pasco — washington — carlee nave — skylar — stress relief — rv — pct roadtrip — interview — (Topics marked with an asterisk* are discussed in the Comments Section below).
This sweet little roadtrip chat in the trailer with long time member Carlee Nave, her son Skyler Dave and husband Sean, happened in the parking lot of the TRAC Convention Center in Pasco, Washington. We made this stop on our way from Spokane, WA to Portland, Oregon.
Remember the Covered Wagon Story from a couple of weeks ago… when our truck almost ran out of diesel fuel? Well, that happened just before our visit with Carlee and her family…
By the way… I really must apologize to Sean (Carlee’s husband). I had got all wrapped up in chatting away with Carlee and Skyler Dave, that I had completely forgotten to get you involved in the conversation. Getting up at 5 AM and driving for several hours in hot weather, not only caused a ‘bad hair day’ situation for me, but also fried the brain a little. ;) Too bad we were never able to make that pot of coffee… turns out we need an inverter installed to get the small appliances to work off of our 12 volt trailer battery system. AS RV Newbies, we’re still learning the ropes.

00:00:03 –> 00:00:07 Hi guys, its Cindy Lietz, your Polymer Clay Tutor, and we are in the trailer on the road
00:00:08 –> 00:00:16 trip, and we are in Pasco, Washington, and we are with wonderful member Carlee and her
00:00:16 –> 00:00:17 son, Sky…
00:00:17 –> 00:00:18 (SD) Skyler Dave.
00:00:18 –> 00:00:20 (CL) What’s that?
00:00:20 –> 00:00:21 (SD) Skyler Dave.
00:00:21 –> 00:00:28 (CL) Skyler Dave, and we’ve got her husband Shaun over here, and we are just sitting around
00:00:28 –> 00:00:30 talking about polymer clay.
00:00:30 –> 00:00:33 So you’ve been a member for a long time, haven’t you?
00:00:33 –> 00:00:34 (C) I have.
00:00:34 –> 00:00:35 (CL) you have, and you’ve…
00:00:35 –> 00:00:36 (C) A long time.
00:00:36 –> 00:00:40 (CL) And you’ve pretty much done or have got every video.
00:00:40 –> 00:00:42 (C) Every one.
00:00:42 –> 00:00:45 (CL) what’s your favorite thing to do with the clay?
00:00:45 –> 00:00:50 (C) I really like the faux techniques, and being able to apply those, not only to jewelry
00:00:50 –> 00:00:54 type stuff, but definitely home décor and that kinda thing too.
00:00:54 –> 00:00:59 (CL) And she was saying that her job… she has to be quite serious at her job, so she
00:00:59 –> 00:01:04 likes that, yeah, tell us about that a little bit, what do you find about polymer clay…
00:01:04 –> 00:01:06 what it does for you with that.
00:01:06 –> 00:01:09 (C) I like that it gives me an outlet, I’m not…
00:01:09 –> 00:01:14 most of the time, yeah I’m kind of a more serious person in my day to day life, so it’s
00:01:14 –> 00:01:19 really nice to have just some foundation where I can come home and play, and not have to
00:01:19 –> 00:01:23 be so in control of everything, and just kinda see where it takes me.
00:01:23 –> 00:01:28 (C) Yeah, the…most…well I’m finding polymer clay is really like that, and actually
00:01:28 –> 00:01:33 a lot of art and any kind of creative outlet like that is a way to kinda release and let
00:01:33 –> 00:01:38 go and get away from your stress and all that kind of stuff.
00:01:38 –> 00:01:46 Oh, hey Skyler, why don’t you tell us about…you…I hear you’re going to school, what grade…grade
00:01:46 –> 00:01:47 10?
00:01:47 –> 00:01:48 (SD) No.
00:01:48 –> 00:01:50 (CL) What is it gonna be?
00:01:50 –> 00:01:52 (SD) It’s gonna be Kindergarten.
00:01:52 –> 00:01:55 (CL) Kindergarten, and what do you like about kindergarten?
00:01:55 –> 00:01:57 (SD) Where there is music class.
00:01:57 –> 00:02:00 (CL) Oh, music, and what else?
00:02:00 –> 00:02:03 (SD) I don’t know…a lot of people play outside.
00:02:03 –> 00:02:08 (CL) Ooh, playtime, and so do you have to bring a lunch, are you there all day or just
00:02:08 –> 00:02:10 half a day?
00:02:10 –> 00:02:13 (SD) Like on…like, like next Wednesday.
00:02:13 –> 00:02:17 (CL) Next Wednesday, so do you have to have… are you there all day, do you bring a lunch
00:02:17 –> 00:02:19 with you?
00:02:19 –> 00:02:22 (SD) No, (CL) No, just a snack?
00:02:22 –> 00:02:23 (SD) Just a snack.
00:02:23 –> 00:02:27 (CL) Just a snack, what’s your favorite snack?
00:02:27 –> 00:02:28 You don’t know…really?
00:02:28 –> 00:02:29 Everything?
00:02:29 –> 00:02:34 You like to eat lobster for lunch… for a snack?
00:02:34 –> 00:02:37 (SD) No, I don’t like sea food.
00:02:37 –> 00:02:42 **Laughing** What I really like is Burritos and Enchiladas.
00:02:42 –> 00:02:43 (CL) Ooh, yum.
00:02:43 –> 00:02:46 Do you ever get to do polymer clay with your mom?
00:02:46 –> 00:02:50 (SD) We make clay but we don’t do it that often.
00:02:50 –> 00:02:53 (CL) Yeah, so what would be your favorite thing to make with polymer clay?
00:02:53 –> 00:02:55 (SD) I don’t know.
00:02:55 –> 00:02:58 (CL) Do you make like little things or big things?
00:02:58 –> 00:03:01 (SD) Like, like…
00:03:01 –> 00:03:05 I’m not 100% sure on that question.
00:03:05 –> 00:03:11 (C) We’re just starting out hon’…kinda learning…gonna start getting some videos
00:03:11 –> 00:03:12 together and stuff…
00:03:12 –> 00:03:14 (CL) Yeah, just starting out…yeah, Fisher used to like to make Pokémon and stuff like
00:03:14 –> 00:03:15 that, so…
00:03:15 –> 00:03:17 I don’t know if Pokémon is even popular anymore.
00:03:17 –> 00:03:21 (SD) I like this one ‘cause it has the smiling car on it.
00:03:21 –> 00:03:25 (CL) Oh, it does look like a smiling car, those are the little Tulips…
00:03:25 –> 00:03:27 Tulip canes, do you like that?
00:03:27 –> 00:03:29 (C) We could do that huh?
00:03:29 –> 00:03:30 (SD) Yeah.
00:03:30 –> 00:03:32 (CL) Looks a little like a smiling car alright.
00:03:32 –> 00:03:35 (SD) It looks a lot like a smiling car.
00:03:35 –> 00:03:39 (CL) You know what, I’m gonna…every time I wear that I’m gonna think of you, Skyler
00:03:39 –> 00:03:41 and your smiling car.
00:03:41 –> 00:03:42 (SD) Is there Jellyfish on it?
00:03:42 –> 00:03:45 (CL) It’s also…also known as a jellyfish as well.
00:03:45 –> 00:03:46 (SD) Yeah.
00:03:46 –> 00:03:50 (CL) It does…doesn’t it look like one, it’s cool.
00:03:50 –> 00:03:52 (SD) Is this Microphone for real or fake?
00:03:52 –> 00:03:57 (CL) It’s well, it’s a combination of real and fake, this part is real, this part
00:03:57 –> 00:03:58 here, isn’t that cool?
00:03:58 –> 00:04:04 So I guess we better wrap this up, and we gotta get down to Tri City…or actually we’re
00:04:04 –> 00:04:10 at Tri City’s area and we’re heading down to what I thought was The Dales, but it’s
00:04:10 –> 00:04:15 The Dalles, something like that, and we’re gonna go down and see another member there.
00:04:15 –> 00:04:18 So, we’ll see you soon and bye for now.
00:04:18 –> 00:04:20 Say bye.
00:04:20 –> 00:04:20 (All) Bye.

Congratulations, Willow, on the beautiful spoon. It had me intrigued just lying on the table in the video. It certainly is a beautiful finish and I’m going to try the wood grain one of these days. Thanks!
Oh, by the way—
Is that a Kenny Rodgers bead?! I’m REALLy stretching it here…it’s getting late…woosh!
Too funny, Andrea. I thought the same thing!
Hi, Everybody!
I’m enjoying these videos on the road trip very much, Cindy and Doug. Since I don’t know the members very well yet, it’s great to meet some of them thru video. Doug, as always, you do an excellent show. Agree on wanting to see some of Carlee’s work. And Skyler’s “Not 100% sure…” just made my evening.
I’m curious, Cindy, as to that long, large strand of polymer to the front of the table. They look like wheels? I’m intrigued as to what it is.
That curb chain you were wearing is what finally made me sign up her…and good thing, too! I love that color. But I’m going to use it for a Halloween Bat necklace I’m making tomorrow. Can’t wait.
Hi Andrea, thank you for the kind feedback! I am so glad you are enjoying the roadtrip videos. That long item on the table was my daughter Willow’s faux wood spoon she did for and art exhibit. We brought it along on the trip and is now hanging on the wall of the trailer. It is beautifully finished and is a great example to show people what a smooth buttery finish you can get by sanding and buffing alone. You can see a better close up of the piece in this teaser video of the Celtic Heart Tutorial.
Is the bead representative of one of your suppliers? :D
I’d say he’s either Santa Clause enjoying the last of his summer holidays, or he’s Saint Patrick still enjoying his summer holidays!!
The Interview with Carlee & Sean & Skyler Dave was fun. Keep ’em comin’!!
Skyler, a great entertainer with a lovely Mom, Calee and a handsome Dad, Sean. What a lovely family. So nice to share the time with you.
The jolly little man may be Santa but I’ll have to wait for that answer.
What a lovely trip you’ve had.
What a darling family you have Carlee, would have love to see some of your polymer clay work but that little Skyler sure made up for it. It is so nice to have a relaxing outlet for your self when you have a very serious work environment. Cindy is so good at interviewing and we are so glad she was able to meet up with you and your famiy for this short visit. Hopefully you will be able to post a photo of something you made on the blog.
I have agree with Dixie…would have like to see some of Carlee’s work .. It’s always nice to see what our fellow pcer’s are doing… Shame she did not bring some of her work to the interview..Sklyleer is a typical 5 year old ….never know what they will say
I think Skyler has a future in politics as long as he can get past being “100 % sure” . He is adorable. I hope he is enjoyingKindergarten. I love these videos. Not sure who the little dude is but he is really cute.
Loved meeting the family. Cindy, you interview well, Skyler was adorable!
As for the figurine….Summer Santa?
I liked “Im not a 100% sure on that question” lolol so adult amongst the normal kid stuff I wondered who he heard that one from really cute
PS
The little figure could be DOUG, heavily disguised with grey wig and beard minus his baseball cap!! Dressed up for halloween………….. Scarey…………..cheers xx………………
Sean, you must be the strong silent type but hallo anyway. Skylee Dave certainly made up for it, loved the way he knew what to do with the mic. Carleen you certainly looked liked you enjoyed this visit (shame about the lack of coffee)
I cannot guess who the little bearded figure represents so will have to wait till later in the week to satisfy my curiosity.
Altogether a lovely visit, isn’t it amazing, the imagination of a child…wonderful…..cheers xx……………..
Hi Nave family nice to virtually meet you. As far as the picture goes at first I thought that your description as “jolly” was a clue that he was Santa Claus. However, with all the paper, plastic, toxic paints and metals, non-biodegradable packing materials etc. I’m not sure how eco-friendly Old St. Nick really is. Lol!
Another enjoyable visit. Wish we could have seen a bit more of what she had done. Young Skylar was a hoot.
Skyler is cute isn’t he! Carlee didn’t bring along any of her work for the visit. The jewelry that was on the table was mine. That’s why we didn’t show it in more detail. Carlee sure is a sweet woman and we really loved getting to know her and her family more. The visit was short but fun none the least.
