Polymer Clay Tutor Quits the Business – Cindy Lietz says Goodbye

“I know I vowed never to leave, but things have changed!” ~Cindy-L

I’m sorry, everyone, but I quit. Polymer clay is no longer my passion, and I have thrown every block of Premo and every tool I own out the window! I’ve taken a torch to my studio, and I’m never looking back!

It was taking over my life anyways. I stopped eating and sleeping, all because of polymer clay! I stopped doing housework and my family was getting thin. The lawn was so long that there were lions and tigers living in it. And I was becoming afraid to even go outside anymore!

I regret making this announcement, because I know many of you have been enjoying your time here. But there is not much I can do. Something has changed that is pulling me in a new direction. Please scroll down the page for the full story….

******* APRIL FOOLS!!!*******

Please tell me that you did not for one second believe any of that crazy talk. I could never leave polymer clay! I’ll hire someone to deal with the Wild Animal problem in my lawn. And my family will just need to learn how to cook. I plan on being around for a very, very long time. You can’t get rid of me that easily! :-)

When I read that you were quitting
    I couldn’t believe my eye
(Got a pirate patch on the other one)
Now “what’s up” with dear Cindy?
For her to be saying goodbye.

Then reading the rest of this clever scam
    (and knowing your wicked mind)
    It’s the beginning of April
    Look out for her pranks
To see what you will find.

A lot of hearts had missed a beat
When they read you were going to quit
Not sure they loved this A.F. joke
We were worried (quite a bit)

Now we can all rest easy
As this day has come and gone
We know you were just fooling with us
Our Cindy will still cary on….(.Unless one of the lions wants a tasty snack ha ha)
    ….Cheers………xx

    • Oh Elaine you are always a delight! Oh by the way, today is Easter Monday and now that the kids are grown, I have decided to change the Easter Egg Hunt into a Treasure Hunt for everyone, including the adults. Each clue is a little rhyme or play on words. It will be fun to see the grandparents, running around trying to find the next clue, right there with Doug and the kids. I just thought I’d mention that to you, since of all people, I thought you might enjoy the image of that scene. Happy Easter to you!

        Hi Cindy,
Hope your family all enjoyed your Easter treasure hunt. I can imagine you all dodging those lions and tigers in the garden.

My garden has become so wild I’m sure I saw an Elephant hiding in the Bamboo, but with the sun going down it was probably the shadows tricking my eyes.
Just waiting for a delivery of Bake & Bond so I can start on the mini paintings….how exciting………cheers ……xx

  • I’m still here! I just don’t get to post as often as I used to. Too busy playing with my clay and keeping up with my jewelry classes. Plus, some health issues, too. I think that might the reason for some other clay friends, as well. Now, with baseball season starting I will be even more pressed for time! But, I do keep up with the tutes and look forward to them each month!

  • Five years later and still going strong… like the energizer bunny :-)

Actually it’s 7 years if you go back to the very beginning (2008).

Maria, it’s so good to see that you are one of the “old” timers still keep’n the faith!

There are others too…. many of whom have chosen to age oh-so-gracefully in the background… like a fine wine.

It would be wonderful to hear from some of you “originals” that haven’t spoken in a while… if nothing else just to say Hi… I miss you :’-) … we miss you … you are all still part of this wonderful family!

  • Looking over the 2010 comments, I was saddened to notice that many of the “old regulars” are not around on this site any more. I wonder where they went? I hope to be with this blog as long it exists!

  • Noooooo! You got me again!

    XOXO
    Maria

  • Okay, you got me! Have my heart a real twist! I had told my husband earlier that no one had fooled me, but you just did. SO glad you are not leaving us! I love what you do. Clever clever girl!

  • I was almost in tears!!!! lol!!! I’m soooooo happy this was nothing but a prank! I don’t know what I would do without your videos and guidance!!! :) I

  • Cindy, this was a hoot!!! I just saw this post and didn’t believe it for one second… LOL… but I had been prepared the other day on Facebook when my 40(something) cousin with grown children posted that she was pregnant!!! I totally believed her then saw others’ comments about it being April 1st. :)
I’m with Elizabeth K. though — this had to be a shocker for some of our newer friends here!
Thanks for your sense of humor, Cindy, and for all you do for us!

  • You Got Me Too – only four days later. I read my e-mails and watched Friday’s Video but hadn’t read any Blogs since Mar 31. I scrolled down your highlights and almost fell over. I was prepared to hop on my Scooter and ride over there to scrounge for any Premo that survived the fire (dodging the lions and tigers of course). Then I remembered today is Easter and I had a ham in the oven and had to prepare scalloped potatoes for eight hungry friends. But first I have to go back and finish reading the blog entries and maybe have a glass of single malt scotch to calm my nerves ;-)

  • Wowsa!! As I read your headline…………I did have a stroke. My third! Then before I even realized the April fools thing, I reminded myself… DOH….adicts don’t try to quit a GOOD thing! Ha! Good one there!

  • When I was teaching for educational research I used to say: ‘Ask away! There’s no such thing as a dumb question if you don’t know the answer.’ And I’d usually follow that up by saying: ‘If you ask a question, you’re the brave one … there are probably dozens of others who have the same question but are afraid to ask it.’

So there! You are so right, Cindy. We are a loving and caring community and you have made it so that we are comfortable sharing our questions … as well as our needs. This is a praying community as well as a claying community. Thank you, Cindy, and all the rest of you who care about others even more than yourselves. May you all be blessed!

  • Hehehe *evil grin* That was so fun! Thanks for being such good sports!

I thought if I went over the top with the descriptions like ‘torching the studio’ and the ‘Lions and Tigers’ bit that you would all see right through it. But some of you went and almost had heart attacks anyways!

I think the one that made me laugh the most was pollyanna’s comment “You had my heart stopping for a second there. I just joined yesterday!” Sorry about that pollyanna! LOL What a way to join this community! :-)

My son Fisher loved Susan’s comment, “You are a nut!” Direct and straight to the point. He agrees with you Susan, he thinks I’m a nut too!

Just goes to show you how much this community is counting on each other. This is a place where you can be free to be creative. The ideas are infinite. Where no question is a dumb question and people care about your well being.

Other than making me chuckle, it did warm my heart and I was very touched by your comments. Don’t worry, Doug and I won’t be going anywhere. I won’t be throwing out my clay and I definitely won’t be torching my studio!

I love it here. I’m thrilled that you do too!

  • Holding my breath, I continued to read, and with a great sigh of relief …as I scrolled down to find…it really was a joke! You got me, Cindy.
