It was during our recent visit to Portland, Oregon, with Margaret Murphy and her daughter (Dana), that we learned of yet another misguided pooch vs polymer clay munching incident.

The first time was when Arvita and Ross Elam told us how their conniving little Cooper used his canines to chew off the nose and an ear from poor ole Henry (aka Middle Earth Man). This prompted a few other members to post even more stories about their own puppies feasting on a variety of different sculpted pieces and parts.

Now in today’s video (below), you will hear about Dana’s dragon eating dog… along with some valuable tips for Margaret who was asking for advice on baking, sanding and finishing her flat polymer clay pieces…

00:00:03 –> 00:00:08 (C) Hi guys it’s Cindy Lietz, your Polymer Clay Tutor and I am here in the Portland Area

00:00:09 –> 00:00:17 with Margaret and Dana, and hi, and they are actually from the Dallas area which is a little

00:00:17 –> 00:00:23 bit south here in Oregon, and we are sitting around here talking about Polymer Clay, she

00:00:23 –> 00:00:27 brought a couple of little pieces of hers that she wanted to ask me about them, and

00:00:27 –> 00:00:31 she has some little challenges and I was going to answer her.

00:00:31 –> 00:00:33 So ask me away, what did you need?

00:00:33 –> 00:00:40 (M) Well I have trouble with the backs getting them smooth enough, so I always have to later

00:00:40 –> 00:00:46 Bake & Bond on a second piece to hide that, and I have trouble sometimes, like you can

00:00:46 –> 00:00:52 see here where this went on to this other side, and this one I haven’t finished yet

00:00:52 –> 00:00:56 but I have a lot of rough edges that I have to sand out of it still, so…

00:00:56 –> 00:00:58 (C) Okay, Doug can you see that if I hold it?

00:00:58 –> 00:01:02 Can you see the edges and stuff on there?

00:01:02 –> 00:01:06 He’s got a pretty good zoom.

00:01:06 –> 00:01:13 Now, what the thing when you’re doing layers like this, if you’re just gonna do a flat

00:01:13 –> 00:01:17 layer, one layer only and you are worried about bumps, what you do is you take your

00:01:17 –> 00:01:21 piece and you would turn it upside down when you bake it.

00:01:21 –> 00:01:26 Because then, if there are any bubbles that are on there, they’re going to rise up.

00:01:26 –> 00:01:34 Now a thing I like to do is lay, have like a ceramic tile, a piece of paper or card stock,

00:01:34 –> 00:01:40 lay my piece on top of that, put another piece of card stock on top and lay a tile on top.

00:01:40 –> 00:01:42 (M) So that’ll force it to flatten out.

00:01:42 –> 00:01:46 (C) Now, you have to, you’re baking for a whole hour, aren’t you?

00:01:46 –> 00:01:47 (M) Yeah.

00:01:47 –> 00:01:51 (C) Okay, good, that you would need for sure to do because it takes a little bit more time

00:01:51 –> 00:01:55 for the heat to get inside there too, so you would never wanna do a really short bake.

00:01:55 –> 00:02:01 But that should help keep the bubbles at bay, and keep it smoother on the back.

00:02:01 –> 00:02:07 You can usually, like this one here, you should be able to take a piece of, I don’t have any

00:02:07 –> 00:02:12 water right now ‘cause the water isn’t hooked up, but we would normally take a little bit

00:02:12 –> 00:02:18 of soapy water, and this is a piece of 400, oh no this is 320.

00:02:18 –> 00:02:19 (M) And I have the Micro Mesh.

00:02:19 –> 00:02:24 (C) And you have the Micro Mesh, so you would use one of the Micro Mesh, actually this 320

00:02:24 –> 00:02:32 is probably a better place to start, or the coarsest one, and just, you can usually get

00:02:32 –> 00:02:37 these edges much, much smoother.

00:02:37 –> 00:02:43 You can do it on a hard surface as well, and it’s, yeah it’s starting to come together

00:02:43 –> 00:02:48 quite nicely, you can get the backs a lot smoother too, have you not been sanding them?(M)

00:02:48 –> 00:02:51 No, I’d not thought of that, which I feel really stupid.

00:02:51 –> 00:02:55 (C) Oh, well you can’t know everything all at once.

00:02:55 –> 00:03:01 So you have to just sand it through and you can get a really nice smooth surface, you

00:03:01 –> 00:03:05 will even be able to sand this resin that’s on there.

00:03:05 –> 00:03:10 Now, that area on this one, I don’t know, Doug can you see that?

00:03:10 –> 00:03:14 Where the color has smudged a bit from the top layer?

00:03:14 –> 00:03:18 That too will sand right back, ‘cause it’s most likely a smudge when you were cutting

00:03:18 –> 00:03:19 through, right?

00:03:19 –> 00:03:21 (M) And it just carried it down onto that bit there.

00:03:21 –> 00:03:25 (C) Yeah, so did you bake this Black layer first then?

00:03:25 –> 00:03:31 (M) I’m not sure, yeah I must have and then I added…then I added that on there, yeah

00:03:31 –> 00:03:33 and put the Saran wrap and put the cutter.

00:03:33 –> 00:03:38 (C) Now that’s fine, you can sand that up, you can even, when you’re sanding, you can

00:03:38 –> 00:03:44 even take out this little nick that’s there, and that will really make a much more professional

00:03:44 –> 00:03:46 looking look, which is what you’re aiming for.

00:03:46 –> 00:03:47 (M) Exactly.

00:03:47 –> 00:03:53 (C) And then, now I noticed on this side, it looks really perfect, but this side has,

00:03:53 –> 00:03:56 you can see the scratch, and that’s probably from when you’re slicing…

00:03:56 –> 00:03:57 (M) Okay.

00:03:57 –> 00:04:03 (C) The blade…you would be able to get that off by, yes you can sand that all off, and

00:04:03 –> 00:04:07 you would start at a relatively high grit so that you could get it back, ‘cause you’re

00:04:07 –> 00:04:13 not gonna lose, this is a pretty thick layer you’ve got there, so if it was a super thin

00:04:13 –> 00:04:15 layer, you’d have to be quite gentle with that.

00:04:15 –> 00:04:21 (M) When you use your Micro Mesh, do you use every single step or do you skip a couple

00:04:21 –> 00:04:22 of them and then…?

00:04:22 –> 00:04:26 (C) Well I usually use every single step, but it takes…

00:04:26 –> 00:04:30 (M) That’s what I’ve been doing, and I was just like, I wonder if I can skip some of

00:04:30 –> 00:04:31 these?

00:04:31 –> 00:04:36 (C) You could, I sometimes will start a little further in, like I won’t start as coarse.

00:04:36 –> 00:04:38 (M) Because it’s pretty smooth to begin with.

00:04:38 –> 00:04:43 (C) Yeah, in this case where the scratch is maybe coming down…well you can’t hardly

00:04:43 –> 00:04:47 even see them, but because they might have happened into the Micah Shift, they might

00:04:47 –> 00:04:49 have made their own Micah Shift.

00:04:49 –> 00:04:50 (M) Okay.

00:04:50 –> 00:04:55 (C) You might have to sand a little deeper on that one, and same with this little spot

00:04:55 –> 00:04:56 in here.

00:04:56 –> 00:04:59 What you can do though is start a little lower or higher.

00:04:59 –> 00:05:01 (M) You don’t have to start at…

00:05:01 –> 00:05:06 (C) You don’t have to start at the bottom, and if you think it’s going really well and

00:05:06 –> 00:05:09 you feel like skipping, just sort of do a quick one of that one.

00:05:09 –> 00:05:10 (M) Okay.

00:05:10 –> 00:05:13 (C) You can do a little quicker on those stages.

00:05:13 –> 00:05:16 Now, what… this one, this is sure turned out pretty.

00:05:16 –> 00:05:18 (M) I love those art sheets.

00:05:18 –> 00:05:22 (C) Yeah, she did a beautiful job of an art sheet here, it’s got some clocks and things

00:05:22 –> 00:05:25 in there.

00:05:25 –> 00:05:30 Clocks and butterflies, it has a bit of a steam punk look, same with the back, she stamped

00:05:30 –> 00:05:32 into it.

00:05:32 –> 00:05:42 Now you said you had a chal… oh, you want to see that…can you see…that way?

00:05:42 –> 00:05:47 Oh, yeah sometimes the camera… that’s why you see my hand in the videos sometimes

00:05:47 –> 00:05:48 coming up.

00:05:48 –> 00:05:49 (M) Something to focus on?

00:05:49 –> 00:05:54 (C) Yeah, ‘cause it wants to jump to the behind the scenes, so now you’ve learned

00:05:54 –> 00:05:56 something about that… so you’ve got that?

00:05:56 –> 00:05:58 (M) I’m learning all sorts of things.

00:05:58 –> 00:06:02 (C) Now you said you had a challenge trying to add those 2 together ‘cause you would.

00:06:02 –> 00:06:06 (M) Well I just…

00:06:06 –> 00:06:11 I can’t stamp, when I did the art sheet on the layer, you can see the back was wonky

00:06:11 –> 00:06:14 again, so then when I did the layer and now maybe I did it too thin, you can just see

00:06:14 –> 00:06:21 it under there, so that’s why I decided to do a separate layer and then do the Bake & Bond

00:06:21 –> 00:06:24 and glue them together and bake them another time.

00:06:24 –> 00:06:30 (C) Now the art sheet is a really, really smooth sheet, so you could add that to the

00:06:30 –> 00:06:35 backside before you stamp, like you could add it to your Gold clay.

00:06:35 –> 00:06:36 (M) Okay.

00:06:36 –> 00:06:41 (C) And then, you know, roll it through the pasta machine at a thick setting, right, and

00:06:41 –> 00:06:47 then you could stamp it and cut it out, and you would probably have quite a nice clean

00:06:47 –> 00:06:48 edge here.

00:06:48 –> 00:06:49 That would save you…

00:06:49 –> 00:06:50 (M) A lot of time.

00:06:50 –> 00:06:52 (C) Yeah, and the baking steps.

00:06:52 –> 00:06:57 (M) That’s the thing, there’s so many steps because I can’t get a clean back.

00:06:57 –> 00:07:03 (C) Yeah, but you can usually, if you, you can usually get these edges really nice and

00:07:03 –> 00:07:07 clean, just with the sandpaper and that will do a really good job.

00:07:07 –> 00:07:11 She’s put the UV Resin on the top, I take it UV resin right?

00:07:11 –> 00:07:12 (M) Right.

00:07:12 –> 00:07:13 (C) Isn’t it nice?

00:07:13 –> 00:07:14 (M) The stuff’s great.

00:07:14 –> 00:07:15 (C) It just turns everything into…

00:07:15 –> 00:07:19 (M) I know, we’ve just joked, put resin on it.

00:07:19 –> 00:07:22 I don’t know, it looks nice… let’s put resin on it.

00:07:22 –> 00:07:28 (C) Yes, if there’s a problem then you know, put some resin on it.

00:07:28 –> 00:07:33 Oh that’s so great, now one of the things we wanna talk to Dana about, you have been

00:07:33 –> 00:07:35 making some Dragons or something, right?

00:07:35 –> 00:07:40 (D) The first one kinda got burnt, so I made a second one which took a lot to get more

00:07:40 –> 00:07:43 the scale, like things on.

00:07:43 –> 00:07:45 (C) Oh, did you put scales on its back and things?

00:07:45 –> 00:07:48 (D) Yes and the toenails, yeah the claws.

00:07:48 –> 00:07:51 (C) And you said there was something about the claws that was hard to do?

00:07:51 –> 00:07:55 (D) Just putting them on because it just… they kept on falling off.

00:07:55 –> 00:07:57 (C) Oh, they kept falling off?

00:07:57 –> 00:08:00 You could use, get some of your Mom’s Bake & Bond and then…

00:08:00 –> 00:08:01 (D) Push it on hard?

00:08:01 –> 00:08:05 (C) Yeah, if you push it on sometimes, and then… but if they’re dirty at all, they’ll

00:08:05 –> 00:08:09 maybe fall off later after they’re baked, so if you borrow a little bit of Bake & Bond,

00:08:09 –> 00:08:13 that would probably help make it stick a little easier, but that sounds good.

00:08:13 –> 00:08:14 What color was he?

00:08:14 –> 00:08:15 (D) Like a sparkly Blue.

00:08:15 –> 00:08:21 (C) Oh, sparkly Blue sounds pretty, how big is he?

00:08:21 –> 00:08:23 (D) Probably at least that big.

00:08:23 –> 00:08:25 (C) And what are you gonna do with him?

00:08:25 –> 00:08:30 (D) Probably just not even make it a bead because the first one I did not like where

00:08:30 –> 00:08:31 the hole came out.

00:08:31 –> 00:08:35 (C) Oh, so you tried to make him a bead before and then you put the hole in the wrong spot?

00:08:35 –> 00:08:39 (D) I had 2 of them, the first one got burned and then I put the hole in the wrong spot.

00:08:39 –> 00:08:43 (C) Oh, that can happen, yeah and then on animals, it can be a little tricky where you

00:08:43 –> 00:08:49 put the hole, that sounds really good are you going to try to make some more?

00:08:49 –> 00:08:50 (D) Maybe.

00:08:50 –> 00:08:51 (C) Yeah?

00:08:51 –> 00:08:54 (D) One of the other ones I did, which was from a video game, my dog decided to eat.

00:08:54 –> 00:08:59 (C) Oh, we had a… we were just talking to another member and their dog had eaten the

00:08:59 –> 00:09:04 face off of her doll, twice, and she’d burnt the ears, so she’s been through some very

00:09:04 –> 00:09:05 similar.

00:09:05 –> 00:09:06 (D) Sounds very similar, yeah.

00:09:06 –> 00:09:11 (C) It does, dogs causing trouble, if you just keep trying though, it will end up working,

00:09:11 –> 00:09:12 yeah, sounds good.

00:09:12 –> 00:09:17 Now you also had a question about the, crackle…these are one of mine, this is what we’re talking

00:09:17 –> 00:09:23 about, the crackled paint technique, and you had a problem with that.

00:09:23 –> 00:09:28 (M) It wouldn’t crackle, the paint, the acrylic paint on the top layer just stretched and

00:09:28 –> 00:09:33 stretched and stretched and it would never crackle for me, I had to peel it off.

00:09:33 –> 00:09:37 (C) So did you use like the kind of paint in a tube or was it…

00:09:37 –> 00:09:38 (M) I used the Craft Paint.

00:09:38 –> 00:09:39 (C) Oh like the…

00:09:39 –> 00:09:40 (M) So, like the Folk Art…

00:09:40 –> 00:09:41 (C) So like you get at Michaels?

00:09:41 –> 00:09:42 (M) Yeah, like you get at Michaels or Joann’s or something.

00:09:42 –> 00:09:45 (C) Well, actually if it was a decent quality one, which it might have been ‘cause you

00:09:45 –> 00:09:48 do other stuff too, right?

00:09:48 –> 00:09:55 The better the quality the paint is, the worst it will crackle, because it’s got more acrylic

00:09:55 –> 00:09:58 fibers and everything in it and its more plastic-y right?

00:09:58 –> 00:10:02 So what will end up happening is, it’ll just keep stretching, I mean eventually, it’ll

00:10:02 –> 00:10:04 probably break, but it would break in a kinda large spot.

00:10:04 –> 00:10:06 (M) So a nice piece of jewelry isn’t gonna…

00:10:06 –> 00:10:11 (C) So you can try a few things, first of all you can go to a crappier paint.

00:10:11 –> 00:10:12 I used…

00:10:12 –> 00:10:18 I can’t remember, I used some PearlEx in some glaze and stuff, check the video again

00:10:18 –> 00:10:19 which…

00:10:19 –> 00:10:24 what I did there, I don’t remember which ones I used, I think Lumiere and those kinds

00:10:24 –> 00:10:27 will work, that’s a nice quality one, but it’s a thinner paint.

00:10:27 –> 00:10:28 (M) Okay.

00:10:28 –> 00:10:34 (C) But, one thing you could try is try watering down your paints, so that the binders aren’t

00:10:34 –> 00:10:35 strong in there anymore.

00:10:35 –> 00:10:36 (M) Okay.

00:10:36 –> 00:10:39 (C) And you know, if you’ve ever painted over something, you’ve watered it down too many

00:10:39 –> 00:10:40 times, it just sorta breaks down.

00:10:40 –> 00:10:41 (M) Yeah.

00:10:41 –> 00:10:43 (C) It doesn’t hold together, so that should help.

00:10:43 –> 00:10:44 (M) Okay, great.

00:10:44 –> 00:10:45 (C) Alright?

00:10:45 –> 00:10:46 So do you think you got it?

00:10:46 –> 00:10:47 (M) I think so.

00:10:47 –> 00:10:51 (C) Well this has really been super fun, we’re actually in a parking lot behind a Best Buy

00:10:51 –> 00:10:55 ‘cause we had to end up meeting her on the way through, so it’s been really fun and…

00:10:55 –> 00:10:57 (M) And you have a very nice RV.

00:10:57 –> 00:11:02 (C) Thank you very much, and we are in front of the trailer and we’re about ready to say

00:11:02 –> 00:11:04 goodbye, did you have fun you guys?

00:11:04 –> 00:11:07 (M) Yes I did, and I learned a lot and thank you so much for having us out.

00:11:07 –> 00:11:11 (C) You’re welcome, and how about you guys, did you have fun?

00:11:11 –> 00:11:12 (W) Yes (F) Why of course.

00:11:12 –> 00:11:14 (C) Alright, we better say goodbye.

00:11:14 –> 00:11:17 Alright, see you later guys.

00:11:17 –> 00:11:19 Bye for now.

How nice meeting Margaret & Dana! Caught myself with another goofy grin after watching this video (and that was before seeing Fisher-LOL!) So nice seeing other members, and getting these extra videos & tips!

    • Miss Kat, so great to see you back posting! Yay! Missed you. Hope all is well with your and yours!

  • I watched this video today with the comment about the dog eating part of the dinosaur! We have a puppy who has an affinity for anything that falls onto the floor! And yes, he has eaten clay! Only a tiny bit, but I do try to keep him away from my work area. :-D

    • Oh Betty not you too!! What is with these darn puppies? You would think that the smell would make them shy away from the clay, but may plastic smells tasty to dogs? Well I’m glad to hear that he only got a tiny bite… for both of your sakes. So happy to have you here as part of our clay family. Thank you for your comment!

  • Michelle Adams says:

I so enjoyed this visit. I just watched it for the second time this morning with my cup of coffee. Very nice to meet you Margaret and Dana. Thanks for all the tips Cindy. I’ve heard you mention before about baking upside down in between the tiles, but it never really registered, lol, and I confess I too have a resin obsession. It makes a beautiful piece amazing. I just had two compliments this week, from men (that’s never happened before), on my peacock cane earings that are covered in…you guessed it, resin! Don’t forget Upstate NY Cindy. Is there anybody else from the Upstate NY area? Maybe we could all plan to get together when Cindy and her family are able to come our way and have a meeting at one of our craft stores. WOULDN’T THAT BE FUN!!!!! Thanks again.

    • We would also love to see you too Michelle! We will pin upstate New York to the map as well and hopefully we can make it happen. I think it would be TREMENDOUS FUN!

Yippee! Thanks for the confirmation about adding a bit of mold maker to the clay to make it more flexible. On another note, I was just reading the postings on using a toaster oven to bake pc. I’ve just recently started using the convection oven I bought at a tag sale and there’s a bit of a learning curve I’m so used to baking in my oven. I’ve already burnt a few pieces, though they still turned out pretty cool. I tried putting my pieces on top of a piece of card stock and they stuck to the paper. I was able to soak and sand it off though. I’ve been using the “bake” setting, at a lower temperature (I know I need to get an oven thermometer) which heats from the bottom. Should I be using the “toaster” setting which looks like it will heat from the top?

        • Hey Michelle, sorry to take so long to get to your questions. As far as the paper sticking to the cardstock, that is kinda weird. Is it possible that the paper had some kind of finish on it? I know that there are some ‘clay coated’ glossy papers out there and some other coated photo papers and such that I am thinking may have been the cause of your clay getting stuck to your paper. A regular un-coated file folder or plain copy paper won’t normally stick at all. Try changing the paper next time and see if that will make a difference.

Or here is another idea… maybe you put a glaze on your clay before baking it? That would stick to paper as well.

In regards to the oven settings, definitely pick up an oven thermometer. You don’t need anything too fancy. I got mine for about $6 in the grocery store where the gadgets were. Though some day I would like to get one that is digital and has an alarm on it that will let you know if the temperature drops too low or goes too high. That would be even nicer.

I would use a setting that cooks from below and above if you can. I don’t know whether that would be your bake setting your your toaster setting, you’d have to test that to find out. Just don’t use the broiler setting if you have it, since that for sure would be from the top only. It is always best to have the heat from all over, rather than only one direction.

Any way, sounds like you will have to play around with your new oven until you get it behaving how you want it to. Watch the Simple Tips for Avoiding Burnt Beads Video if you haven’t already, it will help to moderate the temp, and hopefully prevent you from burning too many more items. Good luck!

Great, thanks for all the tips Cindy. :o)

  • Hi Cindy,

Oh my, I have just finished some beautiful sweet pea and clover earrings!

I can’t tell you how much being part of your “group” continues to mean to me.

Sure hope you and your family will be able to visit Virginia on one of your motor home treks. It is a beautiful state….Spring or Fall would be the best times. I’d be glad to help with arrangements if you need a contact person, so please be in touch when you are coming this way!

The very best to you and your family. May God keep you in His care.

    • We would love to come see you in Virginia Carol! Hopefully we can do that. Our plans are to do a cross countries (Canada and USA) trip this Summer if we can pull it off and will do our best to come your way. We would love help with planning so we’ll have to chat about that next year, closer to the date. So glad you are having fun with us here. Happy to be part of your creative journey!

  • Hi Cindy,

We love your video tutorials, my little girl is only 5 but whenever I get the clay out she also has to play, she will avidly watch your videos with me. Keep them up, we love em.

    Dawn

    • That is very sweet to hear Dawn! I love it that you and your daughter can both get something out of the videos. Say Hi to her for me. I would love to meet you two sometime!

Great travel videos! Fun to meet folks and this one on sanding was perfect for where I’m at now as well.

    • Thanks Patty! It really was too bad we were not able to meet up with you while in Spokane. It would have been fun for everyone to meet you as well. Oh well… maybe next time? Glad you are learning and enjoying the series. That is exactly what we wanted to have happen. We are looking forward to doing more of these trips!

There’s Margaret’s problems with her NOT flat bottoms…………OUCH
Then Dana’s Dragon getting all chewed up…………………………….CRUNCH
What is it with these hungry little doggies?
They all want to try P/C for their lunch!

Think we should all start making doggie bikkies
And fashion tasty P/C doggie bones
Then slather them in hot hot chillie pepper
Sit back and hear their little doggie moans…………………… (thats wicked)

Now CINDY, should you carry bottled water,
Dish soap and a bowl to sand your stuff
For when we visit (If we cannot have a coffee)
We might all just walk right off in a huff!!

My naughty little dog Jessica decided to help herself to my ham sandwich that I had left on the coffee table when I went to answer the doorbell. I love English mustard and had used plenty. She is now sitting under my chair having a little moan to herself, so perhaps you should cover your baked masterpieces in mustard (it will wash off) until these little doggies learn that P/C is not for eating……..cheers xx…………….

    • LOVE IT Elaine! How fun to get reprimanded by poem! I promise that by the time we get our roadtrip out to England, that we will have our act together. We need to get something called an inverter, so that we can use our battery power at the wall plugs… that way we can use our coffee maker. (Or I suppose we could just get a stove top kettle and a drip cone and use the gas instead.) Plus we will make sure that we have bottled water for making the coffee and handling any impromptu sanding sessions that may come up. The last thing I would want is you stomping off in a huff! lol

  • Nothing beats watching someone solve a problem in real time. I am so grateful for the videos that prove that over and over.

So glad to meet Margaret and Dana! Adorable to watch the daughter become entranced in the teaching process.

    • That is sweet of you to say Jocelyn! I agree… it is neat to see someone has that light bulb moment. That is one f the most rewarding aspects of being a teacher.

  • Lovely to meet Margaret and Dana. Would love to see a pic of Dana’s dragon, he sounds gorgeous.
Your son Fisher is quite a character! made a sick woman laugh! I have a nasty cold courtesy of my son! thanks for a neat video, its really cool getting to see people and places like this.

    • I know Sandra! Fisher always surprises me when he does that kind of stuff. He is generally quiet … then he comes in with that big booming voice and says something totally unexpected and I too laugh right out loud! I’d like to get him on camera more often. It would be fun to do some clay experiments with him as my lab assistant… who knows, a mother can always dream!

Another great meeting. I can always use refreshers and tips. Hi Margaret and Dana very nice to meet you both.

    • Glad you were able to glean some tips from the video. It is nice to start getting to know everyone in person… Hopefully we will meet you some day Pollyanna!
