Hi Cindy, I love to hunt for silverware / flatware too! I’ve made some lovely beads to string with silverware pendants by imprinting the handle design into thin layers of raw clay. The design portion may then be wrapped around scrap clay tube or round beads and highlighted with metallic powders ,paints etc. to create complimentary beads. Thanks for showing how to recycle everyday items into art, and making a little less trash in the landfills!

Cindy, I tried what you suggested (even before I wrote to you), but the link to show us how to make the light box doesn’t come up when I put the words build a light box in the search box…???
@Lorraine Coetzee: The search feature for this blog uses Google to generate the results. Google search results do vary from search to search; and from user to user; and even based on geographic location in the world. When I do the search, the relevant article is shown as the first listing.
When you do the “build a light box” search, does the article not show up in any of the top ten titles in the first page of the search results?
The title of the article you should be looking for is: “Jewelry Photography Tips for Etsy | Cheap Homemade Lightbox Tutorial”
By the way, the link by my name of my previous comment above, did provide a direct path to the article as well.
@Lorraine Coetzee: For getting quick answers to questions like this, all you need to do is use your “build a light box” keywords in the search box at the top of the page. Give it a go and you will find exactly what you are looking for in just a couple of clicks.

Hi Cindy, I love the blog and library, you’ve taught me so much! One thing I’d like to see if you have enough requests is a tut on making reusable shape templates for pendants etc. I have seen a lot of neat shapes, shields, hourglass shapes etc on some of the big time artist sites for sale, but they are very pricey and I’d think it would be nice if to be able to design my own shapes and use them over and over. Thanks again for a great resource.
@Margaret M: I know exactly what you mean Margaret, that would be a great idea! I bet there is something cool that could be done with the Silicone Molding Putty, or maybe something else. It would be very handy to have some shape templates that could be used over and over. Especially if you could make them the sizes and shapes you wanted. Will play around with the idea and see what I can come up with.
I absolutely love these!!! The one at the top left has a wonderful shape!! I also wanted to let whoever reads this know that through Sat. in every Joanns store ALL sculpey clay including PREMO is on sale for $1.00 each, NO LIMIT!!!!!! I live in Mansfield, Ohio and I cleaned ours out!!!!! lol

Gorgeous pieces, guys (I mean, “gals!”) Such cool pieces, and each is unique with the different artist’s style! I think these spoons make awesome bails — and I do like that idea of using the silverware patterns for matching beads. They have such nice textures, that would work quite well for this…

Aw” some more of my work. Thanks Cindy for adding them to your site. I really had fun with this tutorial. My sister has been hitting the local flee markes in Ky to find me more. I can’t wait to recieve them in the mail. I have a couple of Ideas as to what I want to make. Happy holidays everyone.

Well, again you ladies have come up with some creative unique jewelry from Cindy’s tutorial. How clever to use the engraving on the handle as part of the design.
Lynn has a wonderful idea – taking the pattern off the silverware and putting it on matching beads.
I’ve been looking at those little collector spoons and some just have fantastic pictures or imprints on them. What a great way to use that!
