How much fun – and you can carve too! Been scurrying around the house looking for stuff to use as textures – stripping bark off trees, robbing onions of their bag, etc – how crazy is that? Love the video – good advise and lots of ideas — thanks “Team”, another top notch video.

Thanks for your kind comments, everyone. Cindy, I am very inspired by your great tutorials, can’t wait for Friday’s. Cherie, to answer your question.. I’ve made the texture sheets like in the tutorial. I’ve pressed the clay into the texture plate, took it out, put it on a ceramic tile (with the top facing me), took a needle like tool and made imprints next to the ones made by the plates. I added the “filigree” look randomly before baking. I hope you understand my ramblings… I am trying to focus, but in lots of pain… Thanks so much Cindy, for the great opportunity to have my work featured. I am very honored to be amongst such talented artists. XX

I have a question about Varathanes. Does any one know if the Outdoor Varathane Diamond Spar Urethane water based Gloss is the same as Indoor?
Long story short I bought the outdoor and need to know if I need to xchg it. Thanks to anyone who may reply.
@Kerri Crawford: I know there was some discussion about this sometime back, and I can’t for the life of me remember or find what the consensus ended up being. I think as long as the finish is water based and not oil based, it should be OK. Hopefully someone else will pop in here with more information on this one for you Kerri.
@Kerri Crawford: I followed Cindy’s link to the Varathane post, and found a comment by Miranda…she bought the “outdoor” Varathane like you did.
You may have already read her comments, but just in case…She eventually wrote back and said she tried it, and that she’d let us know if there were any problems. She didn’t write back, never said “Yea” or “Nay” to the issue. She has a link in her name, though. So if you’re curious, you could message her & ask what kind of results she got? (It could work!) ;D
Or you could just test it — unfortunately sometimes the “problematic” ingredients take months to get sticky. But whatever you decide, I wish you good luck! Let us know how it turns out… ~Kat :D
P.S. There’s still hope that someone will post a firm “Yes” or “No” about this for you (fingers crossed!)
Oh Wow! I made it on to one of Cindy’s posts! (blushes)
I love this piece! I took the mold off of a beautiful silver Aztec calendar that my brother brought back from Mexico. He didn’t even flinch when I got out my mold material and took the calendar down from the wall.
I put two molds on light bulbs and baked them, then joined them with super glue and covered the join with a twist of clay.
I loved the piece so much I started wearing it everywhere. I sent some pictures of it to a friend and that sold it!
Now I have to make another one for me.
