Time for another dose of polymer clay inspiration! In today’s photo shoot, Doug captured a pair of earrings I made just recently, using my Blend and Switch Technique.
As you may have noticed from today’s featured Gallery post, as well as from previous ones (see Dogwood Flower Silver Spoon Pendant for another example of a recent Gallery feature), these photo spreads are included here at the blog to provide you guys with ideas to get your creative juices flowing.
Mosaico Polymer Clay Blend & Switch Earrings:
Evoking the beauty of a glorious stained-glass cathedral window, or the charm of an ancient piece of Italian mosaic art, these stunning art jewelry earrings named Mosaico, are sure to add an artistic flair to any wardrobe.
Sanded and buffed to a rich silky sheen, these earrings are as lovely to hold in your hands, as they are dangling around your pretty face.
Measuring approximately 3 inches (7 cm) long including the hand forged Sterling Silver Ear wires, and 3/4 inch (2.25 cm) wide, the thin shield-shaped design is light and airy to wear anytime of the day.
To further accentuate the artistic feel of these earrings, they are mounted on artist quality mat board and signed by the artist.

Beautiful earrings! Looks like a Cathedral stained glass window. I made two pairs of earrings using the blend and switch technique and also used resin. One of them is a kind of skateboard shape and the other is not exactly but very much like this one. I have to post photos. I’m so behind on the photos.
Gorgeous earrings Cindy, I like that they’re both simple and detailed. Soo pretty with all the colors and shapes! I’m behind on this one too, I have so much to catch up on. Oh well, just more to look forward to when I actually sit down to learn this! Love these spotlights of your work, they are inspiring!
I have a question about a tutorial done quite a while ago with alcohol inks. Cindy sprayed water on the work surface and then put some alcohol ink on that. I don’t remember the rest of it and couldn’t find it searching the various tutes that came up in my search. Can someone tell me what video that was from?
@Freda K: Hi Freda, I believe it was the Video 014-2: Faux Raku Smooth technique….that’s the one that comes to mind with water marbled inks. I’ve tried that one – it really is beautiful and of course simple to do too. All kinds of possibilities with that one, reminds a bit of the art clay sheets.
Thank you everyone for your sweet comments! I agree, Doug did an awesome job with the photography.I really like his use of the rocks in this one. Gives a real ‘organic’ feel to the setting for the earrings. I think he is getting better and better each time he sits down to take some shots!

Gorgeous! Truly stunning earrings (love the shape!) What a wonderful presentation, too. These take me back to the day I first caught a glimpse of your Blend & Switch beauties…in your Rocker Bead video!
Although I loved that tute, I had to ask (as did SO MANY others) about that luscious pendant in the middle of your Rocker Beads set. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait too long…you soon taught us how to do this remarkable technique.
I commented the other day at the Blend Switch post. (I’ll try not to repeat myself too much…leave a link instead.) I discovered Premo added new mini-cutter sets to their line…they’re so cute! I bought the “Nature” set. I mention it since they’re a big part of Blend & Switch. I’m hoping the new shapes will add another cool look to the technique…

Your “Blend and Switch” technique is one of my favorites. The colours you used are so luminescent , which makes me think you used another of my favorites, pearl colours.
