Pirate Crossbones Jewelry Pillaged in Broad Daylight

A Story About Crossbones Beads With a Happy Ending. Ahoy There Mate…

From some of my other posts, you may already know that I’m a big fan of anything pirate… shoes, clothes, wearable accessories… and oh yes… pirate beads!

Today I’d like to share with you how important it is to always wear the bead jewelry you make, especially if it’s made with crossbones beads like the ones in the photos.

Just the other day, as usual, I was wearing a favorite pirate bead lanyard on my way in to yoga class. I use this pirate lanyard to hold a YMCA membership card and keys… pirate beads being my way of ‘living on the edge’ without actually having to get a tattoo.

On this particular day, I had to flash my membership card to the lady behind the desk in order to get a guest pass for my mom, who was visiting with me. Well this lady saw the crossbones beads hanging around my neck and instantly fell in love with them. She wanted to buy the lanyard right then and there, but didn’t have the money on her.

Long story short, we made arrangements to meet up the next day, and now she is the proud owner of one of my funky beaded lanyard creations!

Of course this means I will have to use a different lanyard until I get the chance to make up some more pirate cross bone beads… but it’s all good.

So like I said earlier, always be wearing your beaded jewelry projects. You never know when someone will come up to you and say, “I gotta have it!”

  • Hi Jody! I’m sorry I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had any time to make more pirate beads. If I do, I will let you know. I also have the pirate cane design on the list of videos to make so keep an eye out for that.

Glad to hear you found some suitable buttons at the dollar store. I’m not sure what we’d do without those great deals!

    Thanks for your comment!

Cindy any beads would be great I found some skull and cross bone plastic buttons at a dollar store no less! I am using them for braclets with glass beads. Please let me know the amount, cost and shipping if you’re interested in selling them. I still would love the video if you get it going.

  • @Cindy E: That is the plan!

@Jody: Great idea for a fundraiser! Unfortunately I haven’t got a video on the pirate cane done just yet. It is one of the canes I have been wanting to make into a mini course ASAP.

It is a cane with many steps so I couldn’t really explain it to you without the video. Sorry to not be of more immediate help. I’ll let you know when I do get the course up and hopefully you can still use the information.

I do have a little of the crossbones cane left. How many beads are you thinking you would need for a project like this?

  • Jody Gilbert says:

Cindy, the teams at my daughter’s high school are the Pirates. Do you have the directions for the crossbone beads in any of your videos? It would be a great fund raiser! Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

  • Thanks Cindy!! I think their cool too! In fact I probably wear pirate beads more than any other beads I make!

I may just make a pirate crossbones cane course if people would like me to. It is one of the designs I was considering for my new cane courses!
