** This post is an introduction to one of our paid color palettes.

Like a rich red lipstick or a classy pair of red shoes, the California Poppy adds a luscious punch of color to natures landscape. So rather than compete for attention with such a show stopping color, I decided to pair this fantastic Poppy Red with a collection of neutrals that make it shine like the star it really is.

California Poppy is the richest, most luxurious Red that you can find in the flower. Thorny Branch is a dark mysterious almost Black Brown that supports, yet grounds the headstrong Red. Prairie Grasses is a Warm Taupe that perfectly compliments the Brown and Red and brings a mid-tone to the palette. Cottonwood is a soft earthy cream color that brings light and balance to this rich palette.

I just wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying your website. I am excited to try out all the new color cards and I will definitely tell all my fellow polymer clay guild people about this website especially because that is the number one problem with so many — colors and mixing. I think I am going to start to finally like my finished products enough to put them on Etsy. Thanks again.

I’m useless at colour mixing so it’s brilliant that you guide us through.

Cindy, you gave me the confidence to really commit to experimenting with mixing colors. I’m using your little pill sample technique and I’m so happy with the results! Plus my experimentation has led me to find a beautiful shade of purple that is just perfect for making beads to support my local university team. Fancy that! Plus it’s just a pretty purple! Thanks for instilling confidence and providing some really great recipes. I think the best part about these recipes is the way the translucent works to enhance the quality of the color. Kinda makes it POP!

  • Perfect tut possibilities with these colors and inspiration flower. Cindy could you humor me with a cane that duplicates “poppies in the field?”

Such a tribute to use as gifts or objects for veterans, especially on their “holiday,” as it is their chosen symbol after WWII graveyards ablazed with red/orangy poppies in France.

This palette definitely POPs! Wow, that red looks gorgeous, I think it will be the first thing I mix when I’m able to get the clay back out. I grabbed a bar of clay today, and caressed it gently. I told it I was sorry for leaving it alone so long, and that I missed it so very much. I peeled the wrapper back a little and its lovely smell wafted to my nose. I felt I would swoon. And it was right then and there that I decided to cut back on the medication and deal with the pain even though it’s worse than ever.

    Okay — LOL!??

Seriously, Just Kidding! I do miss it, though. My neck is worse today, so I’ll have to try to move up my doctor’s appointment. It’s hard to get in, but I’ll beg creatively. This truly is a gorgeous palette, though. It might be my fave, too (or one of the top 5, let’s say.) I need to mix up to know for sure… Thanks so much, Cindy & Doug!

I love Poppies and does that red one POP!! Wow I can’t wait for the volume 26 color series. Very strong colors I agree will work all year long.
No dull moments for July. Great job again you two. HURRAY for the dream team/Lietz team. Thanks for all you do Cindy and Doug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Many Uuuuuugggggs to all, Peggy

  • Thanks Cindy, Hopefully I’ve moved the discussion to your other page.

  • I’ve already registered with etsy, I guess what I’m asking is do the etsy’ers go to the cost of registering their logo with the Gov’t, or can that be done at later date?

  • Anna Sabina says:

Ken, There is a place on Etsy where you register you shop name so there are no duplicates. I think it is at the first screen to sin up. You also need to register with an e-mail. For my shop, which is registered but not open I created a new e-mail with the same name, more consisency for customers and better for branding. I used TheClayersHands for my shop and theclayershands@—server for e-mail.

  • I guess, it would be a logo for the etsy shop and if fate and fortune were to smile on me, a brick and mortar bead/finished jewelry store.

  • Cheryl Hodges says:

@ Cindy – I love this palette; agree with Ken – beautiful for fall jewelry. I love the rich tones.
@ Ken – Is that something you have to do so no one else can use the same design?

  • Beautiful colors. Nice autumn colors to use in necklaces like the one I gave to Carolyn during her visit.

I do have a question, and it is tossed out to anybody, not just Cindy. I have everything in readiness to put my etsy shop together, do I need to go through the effort to register my design for the shop name? I didn’t see any comments on this aspect of selling on etsy.

    • Thanks guys, I’m glad you like the palette! I think it will be my new favorite. It’s funny when I put this together, I thought of it as a Summer Palette, but I see a few of you feel it is an Autumn one. This leads me to believe it might just be a good All-Year-Round Palette. What do you think?

@Ken H: If you did not see it, there is another recent “Etsy Conversation” happening in one of the “Bead Contest” posts (see link by my name)? There is more great advice there from members who are currently running Etsy Stores.
