In this video, I review and demo the MelodySusie Violetina 24W LED + 36W UV (2 in 1) Nail Lamp. It is used for curing UV Resin on Polymer Clay and UV Nail Gel Polish for doing Fimo Nailart.

In a previous video, I demonstrated the MelodySusie 12W LED Nail Lamp, which worked great for nails, but wasn’t strong enough to fully cure the UV Resin. In that video, I mentioned that MelodySusie did carry a stronger LED + UV combo lamp, which I will talk about today.

I found the UV Bulbs did an excellent job of curing my ExpoxyJewelry Brand of UV Resin. And the LED Bulbs did an excellent job of curing the Madam Glam Nail Gel Polish.

I like the matte Black sleek design, though I do wish the buttons were on the top rather than on the back. This machine has the same dimensions on the inside, but has a little smaller footprint than my previous UV Lamp.

If you want the most uses out of your UV Lamp, this 2 in 1 unit is an excellent way to go. It is good value for your dollar.

00:00:03 –> 00:00:08 Hi guys, its Cindy Lietz, your Polymer Clay Tutor, and today’s PcT Product Demo, we’re

00:00:08 –> 00:00:18 talking about the Melody Suzie 24-Watt LED and 36-Watt UV Lamp and this is a 2-in-1 lamp

00:00:18 –> 00:00:22 that does both LED and UV light.

00:00:22 –> 00:00:28 Now, this is a nail art lamp, and you’re probably wondering why the heck a Polymer Clay person

00:00:28 –> 00:00:34 is talking about nail art lamps, well, there’s a couple of reasons.

00:00:34 –> 00:00:40 First of all, we like to…or I like to use UV curing resin on Polymer Clay, it does a

00:00:40 –> 00:00:53 beautiful job, and the one that I really use a lot is called UV Epoxy and it’s from EpoxyJewelry.com.

00:00:53 –> 00:01:00 And I have covered some pieces here, some ultra-thin Polymer Clay pieces of clay here,

00:01:00 –> 00:01:07 so here’s one cut out, this is from the Art Sheet technique that we did a tutorial on

00:01:07 –> 00:01:14 quite a long time ago and when you put UV Resin on it, it looks like this, so it’s domed

00:01:14 –> 00:01:20 up and it looks really, really pretty, and it makes it strong and beautiful.

00:01:20 –> 00:01:27 Here’s a couple of earrings I made using some very thin sheets cut with a die cut actually,

00:01:27 –> 00:01:36 I used a Sizzix Die Cut, and I cut out the baked Polymer Clay sheet, and then added the

00:01:36 –> 00:01:46 UV Resin, so that is why I use a UV Lamp, but I also like to use it for doing UV Nail

00:01:46 –> 00:01:48 Gels and things like that.

00:01:48 –> 00:01:58 So a little while ago, we did…I did a review on the Melody Suzie…now this is the 12-Watt

00:01:58 –> 00:02:06 LED Light and I found that it worked really well for curing nail gels like the UV Nail

00:02:06 –> 00:02:15 Gels, but it didn’t cure very well for the UV Epoxy that we use on the Polymer Clay,

00:02:15 –> 00:02:21 and it was because it wasn’t the right watt and it wasn’t the right frequency.

00:02:21 –> 00:02:30 In that video, I also mentioned that Melody Suzie also carried a 2-in-1 Lamp that did

00:02:30 –> 00:02:43 the 24-watt LED and the 36-watt UV, and it’s the 36-Watt UV lamp that we need for the resin,

00:02:43 –> 00:02:47 and the LED we can use for the nail art gels.

00:02:47 –> 00:02:54 So anyways… so they sent me this beautiful lamp, that’s the 2-in-1, and I tested it and

00:02:54 –> 00:02:57 I wanted to show it to you today.

00:02:57 –> 00:03:03 Now this is the particular one here, in comes in…it’s a little bit larger box, it’s

00:03:03 –> 00:03:16 called the Violetina model, and this one, on their website at MelodySuzie.com, they

00:03:16 –> 00:03:28 have it listed as a retail price of being a $120 or $121 with their price being $69

00:03:28 –> 00:03:33 or just about $70 which is a really good price.

00:03:33 –> 00:03:40 And I’ll show you what it comes with, now okay, so first of all, it comes with a little

00:03:40 –> 00:03:45 nail buffing thing, so that you can use to get your nails ready, which is a nice little

00:03:45 –> 00:03:46 thing.

00:03:46 –> 00:03:52 But it comes with…where’s the box here… okay so I have the LED bulbs in here right

00:03:52 –> 00:03:58 now, and I’m just gonna move this forward, and it has a nice sliding tray, so if you

00:03:58 –> 00:04:04 have your fingernails on it, or if you’re putting a tray of resin pieces on it, you

00:04:04 –> 00:04:08 can set it on here easily, and then just slide it right in, which is a nice feature, you

00:04:08 –> 00:04:15 can also remove that, so that if you had a whole bunch of pieces on the table top, you

00:04:15 –> 00:04:18 could actually just set it right down.

00:04:18 –> 00:04:24 Then it has these light bulbs in here…these are the LED bulbs, and I’ll turn those on

00:04:24 –> 00:04:34 for you so you can see what they look like….hang on, what have I got…oh, probably would help

00:04:34 –> 00:04:39 if I would turn it on, okay, so there you go, and you can see I have the UV Nail Gel

00:04:39 –> 00:04:45 on and see how much my fingernails glow when they’re underneath there, so those are the

00:04:45 –> 00:04:53 LED bulbs, and they pop in real easy…I’ll just flick this off here, they pop in just

00:04:53 –> 00:04:59 by… you pull them out and pop them in and they just…they work like that, and you just

00:04:59 –> 00:05:00 snap them in.

00:05:00 –> 00:05:08 Now I’ll show you what the UV bulbs look like, the UV bulbs are the same kind of design at

00:05:08 –> 00:05:14 the bottom here, and they pop in the same way like this…so you have to just kind of

00:05:14 –> 00:05:21 slide them in there and snap them in, once they’re all the way in, you can hear it snap,

00:05:21 –> 00:05:27 so you’d set that up for…you pop these all out and put in the UV bulbs.

00:05:27 –> 00:05:38 Now, I found this to work beautifully for the UV bulbs…or the LED bulbs worked beautifully

00:05:38 –> 00:05:45 for the nail gels, and the UV bulbs worked beautifully for the resin.

00:05:45 –> 00:05:55 Now, the way the buttons are on the back…I’ll just move this out of the way, the buttons

00:05:55 –> 00:05:59 are set up on the back, which is a little bit of a pain, it would be nice if they were

00:05:59 –> 00:06:07 on the top like they are on the smaller units, but it’s easy…once you get used to where

00:06:07 –> 00:06:10 they are, you just come back and push the button.

00:06:10 –> 00:06:19 You can set them up for 120 seconds, you can have the timer off or you can have it at 180

00:06:19 –> 00:06:27 seconds, and that’s more for the nail gel side, when you’re using the UV nail gels,

00:06:27 –> 00:06:32 they are really short cure times, they are in the…you know, in the 120 seconds…2

00:06:32 –> 00:06:36 minutes to 3 minutes, that kind of thing.

00:06:36 –> 00:06:41 And the way that works is you put it…you set it up to the…however long you want it,

00:06:41 –> 00:06:47 so if I’m gonna do it 120 seconds, and then I would push this button down here and…oh,

00:06:47 –> 00:06:53 actually I need the ‘on’ over here first, okay, so you set the on/off switch here, and

00:06:53 –> 00:07:03 then you would press this button and you can see that the light is on there now, okay,

00:07:03 –> 00:07:08 then you can just turn it…oh, no you have to turn it off here, like that.

00:07:08 –> 00:07:13 Alright, so…but if you wanted to use it for a longer cure time, so if you’re doing

00:07:13 –> 00:07:21 the UV resin on these pieces…which takes about 20-30 minutes, I usually do it for 20

00:07:21 –> 00:07:27 minutes, then what you do is you have the timer off, you have to turn it back on again,

00:07:27 –> 00:07:34 and then you just turn it…okay you have it turned off…the timer off, and then when

00:07:34 –> 00:07:42 you press this button, it just stays on for the amount of time that you need, okay, so

00:07:42 –> 00:07:49 you would have to use your regular, just, you know a separate timer to record that amount

00:07:49 –> 00:07:50 of time.

00:07:50 –> 00:07:58 Now, I really like this design, it’s nice, the matte Black is a nice finish, it’s a little

00:07:58 –> 00:08:05 bit smaller footprint than my older one, even though the inside is about the same size and

00:08:05 –> 00:08:09 the bulbs were the same size, the footprint is just a little…it’s a little more…it’s

00:08:09 –> 00:08:14 a little more sleek, if you wanna call it that, also too…the finish on this older

00:08:14 –> 00:08:20 one I have, the sun has really bleached it out and it’s looking kinda faded and not quite

00:08:20 –> 00:08:22 as nice anymore.

00:08:22 –> 00:08:31 Now another thing that I have found… that the UV bulbs over time seem to wear down a

00:08:31 –> 00:08:38 bit, I’m not sure if it’s…they still work, like in my other unit there, the… it’s seemed

00:08:38 –> 00:08:45 like over the years, I had to run it for a little bit longer… like 30 minutes instead

00:08:45 –> 00:08:49 of the 20 minutes when I was curing my UV Gel, just because I think the bulbs were wearing

00:08:49 –> 00:08:57 out, and I noticed when I plugged this one in and put the bulbs in…the UV bulbs, they

00:08:57 –> 00:09:00 cured in the 20 minutes like they used to.

00:09:00 –> 00:09:06 So I’m thinking maybe they wear out, I’m not totally sure on how that works, but I think

00:09:06 –> 00:09:13 this is a really nice deal, it’s a beautiful unit, it’s nice if you’re gonna be doing nails

00:09:13 –> 00:09:20 as well as the Polymer Clay resin, there’s a lot of different products out there that

00:09:20 –> 00:09:28 will work with both UV or LED or one or the other, so having one unit is quite great,

00:09:28 –> 00:09:32 so I hope that was helpful for you.

00:09:32 –> 00:09:41 Now you go to our blog and check it out at www.polymerclaytutor.com, we may have a coupon

00:09:41 –> 00:09:45 there for you, it’s gonna be for a limited time…so depending on when you watch this

00:09:45 –> 00:09:50 video it will be whether or not it’s valid or not, so go there to check that out.

00:09:50 –> 00:10:01 And also if you have any questions in regards to Polymer Clay we have done a ton of videos,

00:10:01 –> 00:10:06 so you wanna check those out and see if we’ve already done a video that would be interesting

00:10:06 –> 00:10:07 for you.

00:10:07 –> 00:10:13 And if not, if there’s a topic, a product you want us to test, a technique you don’t

00:10:13 –> 00:10:15 know how to do.

00:10:15 –> 00:10:19 Or something else that you need help with, with Polymer Clay then make sure to leave

00:10:19 –> 00:10:23 those suggestions in the comment section below, alright?

00:10:23 –> 00:10:25 So we’ll see you next time and bye for now.

I’ve been thinking about getting a dryer these days. And I’ve checked melodysusie on amazon and youtube. Those comments are favorable.

By the way, nice review cindy!

I’ve also watched your youtube review for this product. You have made such a good review, providing all the information you have.

  • Dixie Ann says:

Thank you for the demo on the Susie Lamp. I don’t work with nails, mine or anyone else so I probably would have no interest in this type of lamp being as I already have Terrys UV 36W lamp. It still is nice to know that this product is available and that it does work well with Cindys stamp of approval. I feel it is important to have this kind of information so that I can pass it along if an opportunity should present itself.

    • Thanks for saying that Dixie Anne. I agree, the more you can learn about the available products out there, whether they are something you would be interested in or not, the more knowledge you will have and can pass on. Learning is a good thing!

  • And they are selling very fast!!

      • No, I considered it, but already like my system. I looked it up on Amazon and their in stock numbers kept decreasing getting very close to selling out ;). Good job!!! Hopefully it’s all restocked and ready for more sales!
