If you’re like me, you probably have a big ball of unbaked clay made up of scraps left over from previous projects. I love making lentil beads from this scrap clay because you never quite know how the design will turn out.

One thing to keep in mind when rolling any polymer clay lentil bead, is that the colors will swirl and mix together. Excessive swirling leads to what I call blended muds. Some of these blends can be beautiful if the right primary colors are used. On the other hand, there’s also been times when my muds have not been very attractive.

Not to worry, though. Because less-than-attractive, muddy lentils can be used as a base bead for applying your cane slices to. But I’ll leave that discussion for another day.

  • Hi Cindy, I have never worked with Polymer clay and want specifically to learn how to make lentil shaped focal beads that will need to be about 1.25″ in diameter with about a 3mm drilled hole. Which course do you recommend for me?
