00:00:03 –> 00:00:07 Hi guys, its Cindy Lietz, your Polymer Clay Tutor, and today’s PcT Product Demo, we
00:00:08 –> 00:00:12 are talking about the new products for Sculpey and Premo for 2014.
00:00:12 –> 00:00:19 Now, Polyform sent me this big box of all their newest products for this year, and there
00:00:19 –> 00:00:22 is a lot of great stuff in there and I’m gonna show it all to you.
00:00:22 –> 00:00:28 They’ve brought out a lot of new tools, some supplies and even a whole new line of
00:00:28 –> 00:00:29 clay.
00:00:29 –> 00:00:33 Now I think they’ve done a really good job of listening to what we need as a community,
00:00:33 –> 00:00:37 and brought us some products that we’re really gonna use this time.
00:00:37 –> 00:00:42 Now there is tons in here, so I’m gonna show them all to you, but I won’t be able
00:00:42 –> 00:00:44 to show them to you in very much detail.
00:00:44 –> 00:00:51 So make sure to leave… in the comment section after the video, to let me know which ones
00:00:51 –> 00:00:56 you want me to do videos on first, the ones with the most popular votes on them will get
00:00:56 –> 00:01:00 shown first, and the others will take longer to see them, okay?
00:01:00 –> 00:01:06 Alright, so let’s take a look at what we’ve got here, now as you can see, there’s lots
00:01:06 –> 00:01:07 of new stuff.
00:01:07 –> 00:01:14 First of all, the first one I’ll show you…it is a bead maker, now this is a little different
00:01:14 –> 00:01:18 than the other bead makers that are out there, this one will roll three different sizes of
00:01:18 –> 00:01:24 round beads, and it has the little clay measurers in there, so it should be easier to use, so
00:01:24 –> 00:01:29 I’m looking forward to trying this one out.
00:01:29 –> 00:01:37 There is also a new bead making kit, this one comes in a reusable package, it’s got
00:01:37 –> 00:01:42 a little roller, a clay blade, it’s got a piece of acrylic, so if you want to roll
00:01:42 –> 00:01:47 lentil beads, you can use it for that, or for flattening out square canes and things
00:01:47 –> 00:01:53 like that, it’s got a bead awl, a cutter and it’s got a little piece of fiber for
00:01:53 –> 00:02:00 baking on, like a little baking mat, and a booklet in there for bead making, which sounds
00:02:00 –> 00:02:01 interesting.
00:02:01 –> 00:02:08 Another new product they brought out is a clay bead baking rack, now this one is sort
00:02:08 –> 00:02:12 of interesting, it’s got…it’s different than what’s out there, it’s very small,
00:02:12 –> 00:02:18 as you can see, it’s a triangular kinda shaped rack with some notches in it and these
00:02:18 –> 00:02:24 long pins, apparently the pins fit in the rack, I’m curious on how this one is going
00:02:24 –> 00:02:27 to work in comparison to what has been out there.
00:02:27 –> 00:02:35 What else have we got…oh, this one excites me, it is a hollow bead maker, now let me
00:02:35 –> 00:02:43 show you what it looks like, it is just a piece of metal with these domes on it, we’ve
00:02:43 –> 00:02:50 used…in the past, we’ve used things like paint palettes for making hollow lentil beads
00:02:50 –> 00:02:55 and things like that, what’s neat about this particular design is that it has several
00:02:55 –> 00:03:01 sizes on it and it’s got a matte finish on it, so that means that when you bake on
00:03:01 –> 00:03:09 it, it won’t be shiny, so we can use either the dome side or the convex side, and I think
00:03:09 –> 00:03:14 there’s gonna be some very interesting uses for this that maybe these guys hadn’t thought
00:03:14 –> 00:03:20 of…I’ve got some ideas myself on what I could use that for.
00:03:20 –> 00:03:25 Another thing they came out with is a tool organizer, now, we all start getting a lot
00:03:25 –> 00:03:32 of tools and we need somewhere to put them, this looks like a neat little setup, it will
00:03:32 –> 00:03:40 hold your clay rollers, your… all kinds of little needle tools and sculpting tools,
00:03:40 –> 00:03:46 it even has a slot for putting in texture plates and your acrylic rod and a whole bunch
00:03:46 –> 00:03:51 of stuff, so I think this one’s gonna be a useful one.
00:03:51 –> 00:03:58 They also came out with a little selection of wet/dry sandpaper, it comes in 400, 600,
00:03:58 –> 00:04:04 800 and 1000 grit, exactly what we need, the only thing is, is I’m a little disappointed
00:04:04 –> 00:04:08 in the size and the number of pieces in there, I think we’re gonna go through this very
00:04:08 –> 00:04:14 quickly and I’m not sure if that’s enough sandpaper to be honest.
00:04:14 –> 00:04:19 Another thing that is a great product by the looks of it, I haven’t tried it yet, is
00:04:19 –> 00:04:28 the clay silk screen kit, now it has a bunch of different silk screens in here and the
00:04:28 –> 00:04:34 patterns are really, really pretty, and they can be used for…and they’re perfectly
00:04:34 –> 00:04:42 suited for jewelry size, it also comes with some acrylic paints in gold and silver and
00:04:42 –> 00:04:47 a little squeegee, so you have everything you need to get started with doing silk screening,
00:04:47 –> 00:04:51 that’s a good one, ‘cause we’ve been buying them from everybody else, so they might
00:04:51 –> 00:04:53 as well have some too.
00:04:53 –> 00:05:02 This is a new set that looks very interesting, they are silicone molds, and they’re the
00:05:02 –> 00:05:09 type of silicone that can be baked in, which has some cool purposes, and this one is a
00:05:09 –> 00:05:14 cabochon mold, it molds different shaped cabochons…
00:05:14 –> 00:05:22 Teardrop shapes, Donut shapes, Triangle kinda shapes, and this one here is also a bake-able
00:05:22 –> 00:05:28 mold, but this one is the bezel shapes, so they have some corresponding shapes for bezels
00:05:28 –> 00:05:33 that you can put behind the cabochons which sounds very cool, so I think you’ll see
00:05:33 –> 00:05:35 me do some cool stuff with that.
00:05:35 –> 00:05:39 Another thing they came out with, which I don’t understand why they didn’t do this
00:05:39 –> 00:05:45 a long time ago, ‘cause we’ve been buying these from everybody else, is…they are some
00:05:45 –> 00:05:52 graduated cutters, now they’re perfectly sized for jewelry making yet again, in fact,
00:05:52 –> 00:05:58 this round set will correspond with the hollow bead maker, so when you’re cutting out the
00:05:58 –> 00:06:03 discs to put on the…to make your lentil hollow beads, these cutters will work beautifully
00:06:03 –> 00:06:11 for that, they have a round set, a diamond set, oval and teardrop, and each set has 6
00:06:11 –> 00:06:16 pieces in them, so that’s a nice set and they all sit together nicely in your drawer.
00:06:16 –> 00:06:26 And lastly, they brought out a whole new line of clay called Soufflé, now, this…I’m
00:06:26 –> 00:06:33 very excited about getting to try this, this is an interesting clay, it is very similar,
00:06:33 –> 00:06:38 from what I hear…I’m gonna be doing some PcT Test Labs on it, but it’s supposed to
00:06:38 –> 00:06:44 be very similar to the Studio by Sculpey clay, now I have some Studio by Sculpey clay, so
00:06:44 –> 00:06:50 I can test them directly against each other, but it’s kinda got a suede finish to it,
00:06:50 –> 00:06:58 apparently it’s very strong and very light weight, it comes in I believe 22 colors, I’d
00:06:58 –> 00:07:04 have to look that up to know exactly, but they’re very interesting colors, they’re
00:07:04 –> 00:07:08 kinda designer colors that are quite pretty from the pack, we’ll have to see how well
00:07:08 –> 00:07:12 they do, color mixing wise, ‘cause sometimes these designer colors don’t mix together
00:07:12 –> 00:07:17 very predictably, but they’re very pretty and we’ll see what we can do with that.
00:07:17 –> 00:07:25 I’m guessing that you could do a lot of faux leathers, and great… some organic looking
00:07:25 –> 00:07:26 projects and stuff with them.
00:07:26 –> 00:07:32 They also look like they’ve got some sets…so you can buy little sampler sets of them as
00:07:32 –> 00:07:33 well.
00:07:33 –> 00:07:37 So I don’t know the pricing of these pieces too much, I’d have to look that all up,
00:07:37 –> 00:07:41 depending on which country you’re from and all that, but the products look interesting
00:07:41 –> 00:07:45 and exciting, and I’m gonna be doing a lot of neat stuff with them.
00:07:45 –> 00:07:50 So let me know which ones you want me to do a little bit more detailed videos on first
00:07:50 –> 00:07:51 in the comment section below.
00:07:51 –> 00:07:54 I hope you liked that, and if you did, let us know.
00:07:54 –> 00:07:56 And we will see you next time, bye for now.

Hi Cindy
Just recovered from chronic dehydration, so not much contact I’m afraid, but I still had your fabulous tutorials to watch and mull over – no energy to actually try them, hoping to get back to full swing very soon. I’ve been doing some surfing and came across a tutorial on Polyform where the teacher was using fine glitter through one of Sculpey’s stencils. It looks fabulous and I wondered if this might be a future tutorial you could demonstrate as using glitter thru a stencil sounds rather risky but exciting.
I hope you, Doug and the family are all well and finding some time for yourselves occasionally!
Marion
It is so nice to hear from you Marion! Sorry to hear that you have been ill… hope that you recover fully very soon. That glitter idea sounds interesting. Looks like they added it to some glazing medium or something. Will have to experiment with that kind of thing. (I bet it will be trickier than it looks though.) If I come up with something new using a technique like that, I will certainly add it to a future tutorial. Thank you so much for popping by!
I know you have quite a list here!!! I would love to see information about the Souffle clay!
Hi Cindy, I’m new member to your website and love it. I bought the silk screen kit and would love to see a demo of that and also one for the soufflé clay. Thank you!
Hi cindy, off this topic, have u ever done “backfilling?” If so, what is it and would you consider doing a class with this tecnique?
Hi Sandra, yeah I have done back filling and yes that would be a could topic for a class. Basically it is where you remove clay from a baked or raw piece of polymer clay (usually by carving), you bake it and add new soft clay to the backfill the removed area. It’s kind of hard to explain here, but is a good thing to learn through a video. Will add that one to the list!
Hi Cindy – can I add my support to the request for Back Filling? Is this anything like Sutton Slice?
Marion
Sorry Dixie Anne, me again – just had an e-mail back from Kazun Beads – I complained about the extortionate postage rate for CT’s extruder discs and Judy wrote back to say they’ve adjusted their postage to the UK – didn’t know about our greedy post office! – now it’s only $10 (compared with $18 before). Seems it pays to let people know about issues over here, she didn’t know and was grateful to be informed.
I wonder if they would for nz too alter the postage that is. Reason why I won’t get them is because the postage costs as much as the disks.
Hi Sandra
Why don’t you write and ask, there’s a ‘contact us’ button at base of page. The worst they can say is ‘no’. Tell them we both belong to the same club and relate how they adjusted postage for uk. Difficult to refuse one when another has been given adjustment. Good luck!
Marion
Thanks will give it a go.
Hi Dixie Ann
Yes, I did try just putting in my e-mail, I used my ‘hotmail’ account so they wouldn’t recognise me as British, but up came the registration page, and again when I put my UK zip code in the message popped up asking me to enter a regular zip code, in other words they don’t recognise anything other than an American or a Canadian zip code. Sad really as this is very short sighted of them, there’s a wealth of people over here who could boost Michael’s sales a great deal. Whenever we visit the US – which isn’t often enough! – I always make a bee-line for Michaels, I love it, it’s like an Aladdin’s cave. We don’t have anything nearly as big over here largely because of the extortionate rates for property. Our available land is limited, and getting smaller by the day!
Marion
Gosh Marion, sorry to hear that. I guess your only other recourse is to have someone purchase it for you maybe like a friend or family member and have them ship it over there. Have you checked other websites to see if they ship overseas? There are many online stores that sell PC products and maybe one of them would. It might be worth checking that out also. Good Luck Doll.
Thanks Dixie Ann. Trouble is, anyone in the USA purchasing it on my behalf and sending it across ‘the pond’ would instantly find that no one will ship liquid items. Amazon won’t, and other companies I’ve tried also won’t. We also have a greedy Post Office who charge a phenomenal amount for postage of more than $15. I’ve just found this with the company who sell Cynthia Tinapple’s extruder discs. The postage they want together with the cost of the discs comes to well over $15. Last time I ordered something from the USA which had a postage of $18 I was charged an import duty plus an extortionate administration charge by the Post Office which totalled £20 (approx $33)! this made the total cost of the extruder discs unaffordable and I had to delete my order.
You don’t know how lucky you-all are over there!
Thanks for caring
Marion
So sorry to hear that Marion. Yes, I do know how lucky I am in the USA. I didn’t buy my disks from Cynthia’s site but went through Amazon. It was better and easier for me. It’s too bad postage has to be such an issue overseas. I understand why they don’t want to ship liquids but that’s the world we live in today. Take care dear lady. (((hugs)))
Hi Dixie Anne
Thanks very much for the tip re: Cynthia Tinapple’s extruder discs. I went on Amazon just now but couldn’t find them, even tried just ‘extruder discs’, still no luck. Can you tell me what search you used to find them?
Just found a garden centre that sells Premo! clay for £1.99 ($3.20 approx). This is a good price over here (it usually costs around £2.70), but I’ve seen it in Michael’s for a lot less, and that without a discount!
Thanks for the hugs – Mmmm! lovely! Mine to you too!
I apologize Marion, I got Cynthias Disk’s from PolyClayPlay which is Trish Hodgins website.
Thanks for the link Dixie Ann, unfortunately they want $14.99 postage to the UK which is more than the $10 reduced postage offered by Cindy’s recommendation. Cindy always picks the best!
I would like to see something from the silicon moulds
The clay! I am intrigued by the finish and would like to know what you think about it.
I vote for the hollow bead maker. I have purchased it and made beads and working on how to stick together. Thanks.
Hi Cindy,
Wow, so exciting..I think the clay first. However what ever you do will be awesome:)
Thanks as always !
Ginny
Hi Cindy
I would love to see the silk screening kit demo. I have purchased the disk by Helen Breil, can hardly wait for them to arrive . I was also reading the post form Dulce Tesoros, and went to look at her masks on FB they are beautiful. I have wanted to make mask from PC but have not found a way to bake them to hold their shape. I do make masks on my embroidery machine. But they are flat they need shaping I have tried using the plastic masks from Joann’s but they are sort of soft for any pressure on them. Any advice would be appreciated.
Barb in kansas
Hi Barb, I haven’t made masks before, but I know others have. Are there any papermache masks out there that you could try baking on? Or maybe a plaster head or something? Maybe you could make a simple actual size face out of polymer clay and bake it for a mold? Just an idea or two.
Hi Cindy, would love to see silk screen kit, hollow beads ,cabs and bezels. Thanks
HI, Cindy,
I would like to see demos on the Clay Silk Screen Kit and he Souffle Clay – in fact, I love to watch anything you want to demo!! Thanks for all the “good things” you teach us each and every week!
Bead maker and bezel former. Love your work still as you are so inspiring!
Hi, Cindy,
In order, I’d like to see the following demonstrated:
1. Bead Tray
2. Tool Organizer
3. Silk Screen Kit
4. Silicone Molds
Thanks for checking everything out for us!!
Charline
My vote is for the Hollow Bead Maker
I was anxious to try the new clay and wrote Polyform to see when they would be available here in California. JoAnn’s now has it on the shelf, Hobby Lobby will start in July and I was told that Michaels will not be carrying the new clay. Hope they change their mind.
Michaels does carry the new tools and supplies though. They should think about bumping out the Craftsmart clay to make room for the Souffle… that clay sucks anyway! ;)
I so wish, wish, wish that Michael’s would sell on line. You must have enough ‘clout’ now Cindy to persuade them. On the few occasions we’ve visited the US I’ve always asked the cashier when they’re going to be available for folks outside the USA. Always a negative response. Rather short-sighted as there must be a huge market out there. Cone on Michael! Do us a favour!
Marion, Michaels does sell online now. They just started a few weeks ago. I don’t know if they ship outside the US but it is sure worth a try to find out. I know they have a flat rate shipping for US.
Thank you so much Dixie Ann! I’ll try to order from them now and see what happens.
Delighted! – Marion
Hi Dixie Ann – sadly when I tried to register Michael’s wouldn’t accept my UK zip code. This doesn’t bode well, I suspect they won’t post to the UK as I have to be signed in to order anything.
Thanks anyway – boo hoo! – Marion
Hi Marion, with some web stores you have to set up an account first and sign in before you can order anything or view their online catalogue. Rio Grande is a good example of that, but many are like that. They store your information on their servers and once you log in with your email and password, you then gain access. Did you try setting up an account first with Michael’s?
Let us know how it goes.
I’ve been searching for silk screen kits and videos for ages, so delighted this is in your pack. I agree with Pattw35, ‘lots of fun things coming up’! So much to look forward to – Yippeee!!
Marion
Love all the stuff! I, too, want ot see the hollow bead maker used. Silk screen next and then all others. You have your work cut out !!! Thanks for the preview.
And of course, the Tinapple extruder discs…………… Lots of fun things coming up.
Hi Cindy, thanks for the demo. I have already been using some of these products love the silk screen kit. Are they going to bring out more colors to use with this. Or can we use other acrylic paints with it the paint does have a thick constancy. I also love the hollow bead maker.
Hi Jeanine, you can actually use any acrylic paint that you wish with the silkscreens. Higher quality paints are more flexible and bond better to the clay, but most kinds will work.
I vote for the bezel maker/cabochon maker. Thanks and I am looking forward to your critique…
I would like to see tutes on hollow beads and silk screens.
I would like to see the video from the Hollow bead maker.
Hi Cindy,
Thanks for showing the new products, the soufflé clay looks really interesting and same with the silicone moulds. Love all your tutorials though all very helpful.
P.S.
While I am here, loved the tea pots video you had with Claudia Rubinstien.
Such amazing work
. Makes one want to have a go at it.

Elizabeth K.
Hi Cindy,
for once I am here and found time to see this video on the new Sculpey Products.
thought they were all very interesting and hope we get them in Australia soon.
maybe they are here I will have to look around.
.My fav was the silk screen as it looked a nice size to have with all the pieces to do the job.
also the silicone moulds very useful.
Loved all the pastel Souffle colours hope to see some great demos soon.
All the best,
Thanks for the demo, a great idea.
XXXX
Elizabeth K.
Very nice to see you here Elizabeth! It has been a while!
I would like to see the soufflé used with the hollow bead maker and bezel maker/cabochon maker first. Then all the other goodies:)
Hello Cindy,
I just purchased the new bead rack and the hollow bead maker a couple of weeks ago. I have not had the chance to use them, I would love it if you could demo both of these.
I was so excited by all these tools and clay that I have already bought some! I would love to see the hollow bead pan and some techniques with the new souffle clay.
Some great things there that I am sure will be a help to new clayers. I wish they had been around a few years ago so I wouldn’t have had to improvise a lot of them (with some help from yourself).
I would like to see what you do with the silk screens, like you did with stencils, but would prefer a tute on making our own silk screens with some of the new UV screens available.
Great idea, Lawrence. making and using silk screens…
Making Silk screens sounds like fun! Will have to look into that!
Some great new products there. I would like to see the silk screen kit most of all. Also the moulds and hollow bead maker. The soufflé clay sound really interesting too.
Wow! What a great array of new products. I am most interested in seeing: the bead maker, the hollow bead maker, molds for the cabs & bezels, the baking rack, silk screen kit, the clay. (did i leave anything out? ; ~)
I vote for hollow bead maker!
Lots of fun things in the box. I would like to see the Silk Screen, Tool Organizer and Hollow Bead Maker. Oh, and of course Souffle, I still have some Studio by Sclupy. You may need to add another multi drawer storage unit to your studio to hold the Souffle. Not sure where you can squeeze that in.
I actually did a little reorganizing of my drawer units and will have lots of room for the new clay. Nice to see you were worried for me though! :)
This is so cool that your showing these products now. I just bought the silk screen kit and the hollow bead tray so i’d like to see you show those. The new clay sounds interesting too.
Hi Cindy,
I’m interested in the silk screen kit! I recently found your website, your videos are quite impressive!
Hi Cindy, thank you so much for showing us all the new Sculpey products for 2014. I have already ordered some of them so will be anxious to see you demonstrate them all. I did not get the new bead rack but after you showing it, has piqued my interest. I am also excited to see you use the new silk screen package and then hopefully you can use a design in the new bezel mold. Blue Bottle gave a wonderful in dept review on the new souffle and the feed back on this clay has been very exciting and I look forward to watching you demonstrate it. I think Polyform has a winner in all these new products.
I would be interested in seeing how the cabuchon moulds work… As well as the silk screening
Hi Cindy & Doug & family!
Hope your leg is doing better.
Please demo the clay, then the hollow bead maker and the bead maker, then the others.
Wednesday is finally moving day. Can’t wait to be able to use my new studio/second bedroom that I designed and my brother-in-law Doug put together for me. I probably won’t be able to clay around til next month–still have to clean out the rest of the current house, put it up for sale and settle into new condo. I still watch the videos and read all the comments, but haven’t posted anything. My sister Cindy and brother-in-law Doug (the first Cindy and Doug in my life!) (no–my niece and nephew are named Nicole and Dylan–not Willow and Fisher!) have really been helping me out with everything since Mom died.
Please do not take my silence as not enjoying or not liking any of your videos or color palettes,
I’m just totally overwhelmed right now and cannot wait to get this horrible six month chapter finished in my life.
Happy claying ahead!
Mari
Hi Marianne, my leg is much better now. Thank you for asking! I am back to doing my regular walks but it is still very stiff and it will take a while till it is back to it’s old flexible self!
Thanks for letting us know that you will be lurking but not able to participate as much due to moving. Sorry to hear things have been difficult for you. Chin up… There are sunnier days ahead!
That is funny you have another Cindy and Doug in your life. Seems it is a popular couple’s names… Doug himself also has some relatives that are named Cindy and Doug. I’m not saying we are the best Cindy and Doug out there… but I really wish people would stop copying us!! ;) lol
Take care of yourself… hope to you soon!
The clay, the clay! With any of the bead making tools, the round, the hollow and the bezel, cabochon. Oooh so exciting
Hi Cindy:
I am intrigued by the hollow bead maker!
Maria
How exciting. I’m especially interested in the hollow bead maker and the cabochon and bezel molds.
I am interested in the bake-able bezels and how they might work with the cutting tools.
