** This post is an introduction to one of our paid color palettes.
This late Summer, early Autumn Sunflower was photographed by my husband Doug way back in 2007 on my birthday. It was a real beauty with its rich fiery petals and deep rich brown seeds. Seeing this photo reminds me of when I planted sunflowers in my backyard every year. Their tall nodding heads serving as a temporary fence between our yard and the lane.
I have been so busy the last few years with this blog, I have hardly done any gardening at all. But this photo and color palette has inspired me so much today, that I have decided to plant sunflowers again next year, when Spring rolls around.
Fresh Turned Soil is the rich Brown, Black of the Sunflower Seeds at the center of this gorgeous flower. Red Brick Path is the rusty Red Striations radiating through each petal. Autumn Squash is the roasted Orange of the flower as it blends out to the Golden Sunflower Yellow of the outermost tips.

This is a wonderful site and I love being able to read about all the great ideas you have, Cindy. One thing that I would love to be able to do is get all of the recipes. I would be willing to pay an additional fee to be able to access ALL of the recipes. I download them all as the new ones come up, but would love to have access to all the old ones. The color recipes are one of my VERY favorite parts of this website.

As a paid subscriber, I love the color pallet recipes and don’t know where else to get anything like them. I am confident Cindy has tried out the recipes before posting them on her site.

Hi! I’m a member of Cindy’s Site, and love it! I’m fairly new to polymer clay and she has been so helpful and always there to answer any questions. I love her clay recipes. She’s a doll!

I mean the Golden sunflower is too yellow. Sorry
I need a good egg yolk color recipe in Premo. The Autumn Squash is too yellow. Can anyone help me please?
@Lori Trahan: Hi Lori, I hope you were able to get the color you needed. It’s been awhile…are you still looking for that egg yolk color, or did you get it mixed up yourself?
I thought I’d ask, and get the comment “bumped” over to the recent comment list on the right. That way, if you still need it, perhaps someone will see it who can help (someone who has mixed up all their color chips…unlike me, unfortunately!) Hopefully, one of the members who’s good at mixing colors will have some tips on how to get the color you need.
You could also try using the search box at the top of each page to look for articles or discussions about color mixing. I remember a discussion a while back about how to convert color recipes…I think Sue F. gave some instructions on her process for changing Premo recipes over to Kato. It might be helpful for you…
please add me to the list -really like making the color recipes. More would b e good ;}
Ok, now I know, still can’t use the reply function
I’d definitely be interested in past B-series recipes!!
@Tanya L: But we’re already getting the back “B” Series colors in the weekly newsletter, they’re included with the current “A” and “B” colors, Cindy is working her way through the collection again.
Thanks for posting your comment Sharon-B. Is there anyone else that would be interested in a color-recipe-only library?
@Deborah-S: I agree that Cindy’s site is wonderful. However, my main interest is color mixing, so I would also love to have access to the archived color recipes (even if only the B-series ones). I’d subscribe to a “recipe-only” library if it also included A-series recipes.
@ Jeanne C: It certainly is a smalll world. If you ever visit your Rutland relatives, let me know!
I love these colors! Can’t wait! I love the autumn colors…so vibrant.
Beautiful palette. The rich earthy colors of fall ; the golden yellows, browns, deep yellows, oranges and reds are my favorite colors. Fall is also my daughter’s and my favorite time of the year; I love the crisp air and the skies and it also happens to be my daughter’s and my birthday too during this season.
What beautiful colors you’ve chosen to replicate again, Cindy, and what great photography skills shown by Doug! This is another one of my favorite flowers, along with some of my favorite colors (and, dare I say, favorite time of year too?), so I can’t wait to “have at ’em”! Love it, love it, love it! Thank you so much to you both!
Sorry about the moderation, I thought the trouble might have been over.
@carolyn: ;-)
@all: Glad you are liking the this Vol-028 color pallet. Doug and I I really enjoy putting them together for you guys.
My calendar was already marked.
Wonderful pallet … and sneaky b’day reference.
@carolyn: Thanks Carolyn for bringing that up. Don’t think for one moment Cindy that we missed the reference there in the blog entry, Facebook is a wonderful creation on many levels. :)
While the yellow and reds might take the stage I’m very interested in the “fresh turned soil” because that’s one of the best experiences with gardening. Good soil has a rich smell. Cindy, here’s hoping you find some time soon for gardening.
Doug, this is another beautiful photo!
Cindy, I love how you’ve picked up the shades of color in the flower.
@ Jeanne C: I live in Killington, VT. What part are you from?
@Linda K.: Born in Winooski, left Burlington 12 years ago and moved to AZ. Have relatives in Rutland. :)
Fall has always been my favorite time of the year, having lived in Vermont gave me the opportunity to witness one of natures miracles displaying her beautiful colors. Picking apples, baking pies and rolling in the leaves with the children! Living in AZ I do miss Autumn. Oh Cindy thanks for the trip down memory lane. :)
Looking forward to whipping up a batch of Autumn Sunflower. :)
Luscious colors, Cindy…beautiful photo, Doug! This warm palette is perfect for Autumn…and lots of gorgeous beads! Happy to hear you’re going to plant some of these beauties in the Spring.
What a perfect coincidence–we are having a tease of Autumn today with the first cooler temperatures we have had in months. This is a beautiful palette!.
WOW! Stunning colors, I can’t wait to get this month’s colors mixed up to see them in person. Autumn is my favorite time of the year with all the colors and the crisp cool air.
