00:00:03 –> 00:00:07 Hi guys, its Cindy Lietz, your Polymer Clay Tutor, and today we’re talking about how to
00:00:07 –> 00:00:11 get answers to all of your Polymer Clay questions.
00:00:11 –> 00:00:16 Now when you work with something as versatile as Polymer Clay, you are bound to have some
00:00:16 –> 00:00:20 questions whether you are a beginner, an intermediate or even an expert.
00:00:20 –> 00:00:25 So over the years, oh about eight years or so, my husband Doug and I have put together
00:00:25 –> 00:00:31 a resource PolymerClayTutor.com, where we’ve been doing tutorials and answering questions
00:00:31 –> 00:00:37 and doing all kinds of things to help you further your Polymer Clay journey.
00:00:37 –> 00:00:43 But as we’ve been growing, it’s becoming more and more difficult for me to answer questions
00:00:43 –> 00:00:47 individually anymore, so I have a big favor to ask you.
00:00:47 –> 00:00:55 Now, first of all, I still want all your questions to come in, questions, comments, suggestions,
00:00:55 –> 00:01:01 ideas, unless you ask them of me, I have no idea what you need, and I need to understand
00:01:01 –> 00:01:07 what is most difficult for you guys in order to come up with the right videos to give you,
00:01:07 –> 00:01:10 so keep those questions coming.
00:01:10 –> 00:01:15 And another favor I have is if you have the answer, maybe you’ve been around for a while,
00:01:15 –> 00:01:22 you know that I’ve done a video on it in the past, help each other out, if you know it…
00:01:22 –> 00:01:28 the answer, then give the answer to the person that’s asking, that would be really great,
00:01:28 –> 00:01:33 and we’ve been doing that for a lot of years on our website and it’s made a big difference,
00:01:33 –> 00:01:40 people learn a lot from each other, and actually we have almost a 100,000 comments on our blog
00:01:40 –> 00:01:46 where people have been interacting and it makes a big difference in your learning experience.
00:01:46 –> 00:01:52 And then the last thing is maybe you can find the answer yourself, now on our blog…or
00:01:52 –> 00:01:58 on our site, PolymerClayTutor.com, there is a search box there that if you type in your
00:01:58 –> 00:02:04 question…your issue, your topic, whatever it is, into the search box, the answer will
00:02:04 –> 00:02:10 mostly likely pop up, because there is like over a thousand posts, there’s 500 videos
00:02:10 –> 00:02:16 and like I said, like tens of thousands of comments, those answers are probably gonna
00:02:16 –> 00:02:21 pop right up for you and you’ll be able to find them right away, alright?
00:02:21 –> 00:02:26 So make sure to be using that resource, make sure to be interacting with each other and
00:02:26 –> 00:02:30 keep the questions coming in, and the suggestions.
00:02:30 –> 00:02:37 I read everything, I just can’t personally respond to everything anymore, it’s a little
00:02:37 –> 00:02:43 overwhelming, and if I do…I’ve spent entire days just answering questions, and I’m having
00:02:43 –> 00:02:48 a difficult time getting all the videos and stuff done, so if you could help me out, that
00:02:48 –> 00:02:49 would be great.
00:02:49 –> 00:02:53 So I hope that was helpful for you, if it was, let me know if you liked this video in
00:02:53 –> 00:02:59 the comment section below, of course ask whatever questions that it is that you need.
00:02:59 –> 00:03:06 And don’t forget to use that resource, PolymerClayTutor.com, and use the search box there to find all the
00:03:06 –> 00:03:08 answers to your Polymer Clay questions.
00:03:08 –> 00:03:10 We will see you next time and bye for now.

Thanks for the Search bar video. I am constantly driving people to your blog site for answers to questions that a lot of beginner clayers have. It sounds like you and Doug have a lot of exciting changes coming especially the I-Pad option. I think everybody must have one of these by now. I look forward to every video you put out there and I watch every one of them. Bella loves the sound of your voice and jumps in my lap every time I play one of your videos.
Thanks Doug and Cindy for all the hard work you do to make it better for us. You guys rock!
When Cindy and Doug started this site there was not much available for PC on You Tube. But now by watching some other peoples PC tuts we can really appreciate all the hard work and editing the Lietz’s put into theirs. Yesterday, I decided to watch another person’s You Tube video, I am not referring to it as an tutorial because they spent over 15 minutes with ridiculous and unnecessary chatter about making a Bulls Eye cane !!! That was over half the length of the Video rolling out a clay snake and covering it with another color!!! Some of the time was spent looking for tools. Thank goodness for MUTE and Fast Forward.
Agreed, Anna! Those tutorials always seem to open with a monologue to the camera that lasts far far far too long. (Get to the good part already!) When they FINALLY get to the tutorial, their hands move out of frame at the most crucial moments. And the angle is never right. Hands are usually in the way. Oh, and I have to wear headphone because the audio quality is so poor.
I don’t mean to put anyone down, and there are some decent tutorials out there. But no one’s work holds a candle to a Lietz production!
Thank you Anna and Jill for saying such kind words! I had forgotten, how there was very few videos when we got started. Now everyone and their dog is making them. Like you both said, there are a few gems out there, but the bulk of it is pure garbage. Just because you can buy a camera, it doesn’t mean you can shoot a good tutorial.
Every day I can still see room for improving on what we do, but I am proud of how far we have come so far. Looking forward to many more videos to come! We couldn’t have done it without your support and constructive feedback. Thanks again for taking this ride with us!
Just a QUICK QUESTION: How to or Where to ‘follow you by email”? Like a newsletter subscription? So that any time you posts some new resources, info or vids, readers can be notified by email. I just haven’t seen am option for this anywhere yet? :) Happy Summer
Hi Jeanine, If you go up to the right hand of the page you will see a big green and blue button that says the guest list on it. That is where you sign up for the weekly newsletter that will keep you updated… plus you get three free videos just for signing up.
When we get our new site designed, things like the search box and the newsletter will be changed up a bit and made more user friendly, but we will be keeping them in one form or another. The more you guys help each other out, the faster we can get to these improvements.
Good for you!! we need you doing all the important stuff that benefits all of us..
Hi to Cindy, Doug and PCT Community;
I have a suggestion about the search box. Some people may be confused and think the search box above is an ad for Google or a search box for the Google website and totally ignore it or not feel at ease doing a search on Google’s massive site. Maybe, if possible, you can expand the box around it and put a title such as ‘Search here for answers to your Polymer Clay questions’. People may be more at ease to use the search if they know it is for your blog only and not the entire Google site or not an ad. I know it sounds stupid, I hope I’m making sense. That little phrase might make a difference. Just a suggestion.
Take care.
Mari
Good point about the search box. I am currently in the process of doing a site re-deisgn/makeover and putting more emphasis on the search box is definitely part of the plan. Unfortunately with the the way the that Google Custom search box is set up now, I’m not able to add a Title as you suggested… otherwise I definitely would.
Doug, in the module that has the Google search box, is there a way that you can add it as text under the search bar? While I knew that the search box for your website is only powered by Google and searches directly within the website (I used the search box a few days ago – ironically the day before this post came up) others may not know that it searches just within the website itself.
Another thought is, when I mouse over the search box, the word “search” comes up. I do recall there is a way within the coding that you put in on the website module that allows you to change what it says on that mouse over. You could change it to say something like “Search PCT Community” or “Search this website.”
Yes, along with being artsy, I am a total geek. Please let me know if you need help finding the line. I can point you to the Google article on finding the mouse over tag if you find that might be helpful too.
Lots of props for all the hard work you guys do!
~Chelsea
Thanks for your input Chelsea… and for your offer to help with customizing the search box. That Google Search function was a bit of a bugger to set up on our site. We had a difficult time getting it to play nice with some of the CSS styling for other elements on the site. So at this stage with our plan to switch to a new theme, I think I’ll just leave it for now. On the new site, I may end up not using the Google search engine at all… still looking at different options on this front.
Hi Doug, just another idea, since you are in the process of redesigning the website, if you can make all the videos iPad user-friendly that would be amazing! There are some of the first videos I like to revisit on the iPad but are not converted yet. Thanks!
Yup… making all of the older (Flash-based) videos iOS friendly, is definitely in the works. If you want a work around to tide you over, the Photon App will allow you to play to play just about any Flash file on most phones and tablets.
For iOS mobile devices, here is the the link…

And for Android devices, use this link…

Awesome! I will try it!
Thank you ! :)
No problem! Great idea. Will do!
Hi Cindy. I completely understand. The search box is extremely helpful. If I can’t find the answer to my question there, I will ask the community. There are some amazingly talented and knowledgeable people here.
