In kindergarten you probably learned how to roll playdoh logs using your fingers and finger tips. That’s fine if you want a log that has ripples or ridges all the way down the length of it.
But for making polymer clay beads, you’ll want a nice smooth and even log with a consistent diameter. So instead of rolling the clay under your fingers, angle the hand slightly and use the wide flat surface of your palm.
In This “Making Clay Logs” Video… What’s even better than using your palm to roll polymer clay logs is to use a see-through sheet of acrylic plastic or plexiglas. In this video I demonstrate how to hold the plexiglas sheet to get good results every time.

Hi Kim – Thanks for dropping by. You should try using polymer clay to make some focal beads for you other beading projects. It’s very fun.

I just love your site! I also do a lot of beading, but have never worked with clay to make beads.
